This will be our first big race of the 2013 season. Should be an interesting race. We will be open that saturday for our 1st IHRA Summit points race, as well for test and tune and some of the dragsters will be making some shakedowns. Makes for a weekend with 2 days of great racing!

If i come up Saturday for test and tune can i leave it over night there so i don't have to fight the crowd Sunday trying to park?

Yes, some of the dragster guys will be staying the night there. We are thinking about having a early bird race on sunday. Details coming soon.

NesbittRacing1
03-20-2013, 01:57 PM
Any details on that really bird race? Also are y'all gone have somebody in the staging lanes, keeping everything strait? And keeping it from becoming a big cluster?

03-20-2013, 02:02 PM
will you guys please control the staging lanes this year. every year the staging lanes turn into a cluster with broken beer bottles all over the place and it's so crowded you cant even get to your car. please keep the party on the other side of the track

slowgreen99
03-20-2013, 02:07 PM
Thatd be nice! And maybe enforce wristbands for staging lanes? And only give them to real cars, not joe schmo with 26s and his 10 buddys. Itd be cool to have the music, and even concessions on the opposite side. Id rather walk to eat than fight to move a foot.

NesbittRacing1
03-20-2013, 02:13 PM
X2 it would actually make it a better time for the RACERS

1998ta__1991rs
03-20-2013, 02:44 PM
the best thing would be for only racers/crew to be allowed on the tower side, no exceptions, that would keep everyone out of the staging/pit area and everything would move a lot smoother

id also think about not allowing the test and tune cars on street tires to run, it would keep the track in a lot better shape for the dragsters and class guys, and cut down on the joe shmos with 26's

Im new to dorchester. been there past 2 sundays.. wont be going back. i watched a man wit his son and wife get harassed till the point they left because he wasnt going to run his truck that night. and im sure they wanted money. ive been approached to race for money 5times in the 2 times i've been there.
and i havent raced a vehicle or brought one race worthy. do all these people randomly walk up and ask everyone to race even if there with there family in the stands. i understand were you guys are coming from with the recent posts about the whole "scene" it isnt good one bit. i usually attend screven and its a much more friendly safer track. the past 2 weekends ive seen 0 enforcement of anything at dorchester, my 17month old son cant even walk on the grass cause of broken glass incase he falls.< we saw 3 patches of broken glass from the restrooms to the stands> more in the area the race cars/trailers were at.
and honestly i dont know if you could hand me a 50cal and offer 1000bucks for me to walk through that mass of people i saw last weekend around the race cars etc. there should be a maximum aloud per car or something im not sure. sorry my first post is negative on these forums. was trying to give my opinion on recent posts under thread

Doubt it will happen. Would love to try my hand at the race Easter Sunday but don't feel like dealing with the mob and the stuff not staying on schedule mainly bc all the bs in the pits. If it wasn't for all the concessions on the pit side I think I would work to keep the spectators on the other side or at least the block party. Probably just the block party/music on the others side would help a lot.

No shit. I dont recall a big group the last couple of weekends. The racers and "crew" the last few weeks is the norm. Thats why I was asking.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 03:51 AM
honestly. the conditions/track was so awful i would rather keep my vehicle to myself. incase for some odd reason i end up back there. yea its that bad there... and if the last 2 weekends is normal these people in dorchester dont know normal. a normal person doing "test n tune" doesnt need to have 20+ in his posse trying to confront every person to try to make a buck. The scene will make you want to grip a pistol in your pocket the whole time you are there. dorchester needs to clean there act up and look like a legitamit business/drag strip not a weekly hangout for hooligans. If they would get 2-3 local law enforcement to patrol the events the dragstrip would lose 80% the people i saw. wasnt cool trying to look around at vehicles with my family dodging the clouds of marijuana smoke and large packs of way out of hand people. like i said slowgreen99 if this is normal actions thats a sad state to be in imo..

I don't think anybody is gonna be hurt or upset if you decide to stay at home. They give you an opportunity to go out and race your vehicle on the weekend which nowadays is becoming more and more scarce. Large clouds of marijuana and large packs of way out of control people in the past two weekends? There hasn't been anyone out there and I've been out there both times this year. Don't take any offence to this but either a big liar or seriously exaggerating. (20+ people in a posse) hell there wasn't twenty people in one large group there let alone some posse looking for a race. I've been going out there nearly every weekend for the past five+ and never felt the need to grip a pistol in your pocket.

you didnt see sunday night crowd with the 6.0 race? you think i would make an account over a thread for shits n giggles? right lane ran a 6.0 left lane was a 6.2. am i making that up also? you seriously gonna tell me that when you got 50+brohams congregated that not 1 has a blunt lit? i was trying to stay nice with my posts. if i typed what i want to type id prob be banned instantly :( but i dont think i need to. seems alot and myself are on the same page with dorchester. i was with a friend on sunday.. he actually took photos on his cell. this is gonna get good i think...

im not worried. i was just posting my thoughts on dorchester. i could careless about that shit track. been 2 weekends and see nothing but junk. maybe 3 decent built cars.. everything else is a motor with cam/nitrous trying to make a buck. cleaner appearance will bring cleaner vehicles.

You are in SC sir. This isnt NHRA, so youre not going to see $100k cars out there. Yeah I agree, it's far from a family atmosphere most of the time, but it's also not Chucky Cheese. I would strongly suggest not coming to a big event if it bothers you THAT bad. Cops wouldn't stop the stuff you see anyway, but like I said, I do agree with you on some things. We grudge race and that's why we just deal with it. Hopefully you can still come and try to enjoy it, but if not, try to maybe make Bowman?

What pictures did your buddy take? Just curious.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:01 AM
it isnt so much about 100k cars either. if you got money for a big ass bottle of nitrous some slicks and a cam etc you can add a 300 dolla wheely bar or whatever to not make you look like a tard cause u spray off line then do bunny hops and make a shit pass.

slowgreen99
03-22-2013, 08:03 AM
Yes, but in small tire and stock suspension racing, wheelie bars are a no no. And I know exactly what car you're speaking of.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:03 AM
just random pics of cars etc. but im sure you can see the mass of shit around vehicles. would have to call him and have em send em over etc. not like we were planning on a post about dorchester. or i would have snagged the cigar guts on ground along with broken glass.

03-22-2013, 08:05 AM
the cars i saw on sunday only maybe 2-3 could handle bracket racing. the rest were uilt to grudge/try to make money. just very low end stuff. and it wasnt just 1 car. there were several that couldnt hook/launch.

nicest car i thought period on sunday was a teal foxbody turbod. that car is legit..and wont fall to pieces after 5 runs

nicest car i thought period on sunday was a teal foxbody turbod. that car is legit..and wont fall to pieces after 5 runs

Yeah it will. So a car with nice paint makes a car legit?

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:18 AM
no. paint means nothing :( the quality of the build means everything. based off sundaywith who ran/showed up etc the only 2 nice cars were the 2 foxbodys a green and red one. a white one showed up late and parked by front. he had more money in his car then the other 2 put together from what i saw. didnt see him run though. had to leave by that time cause my son was raging.

was a green mustang from whiteboy racing there. think they were only people actuall testing and tuning. cause i dont think they made a full WOT pass from launch. maybe they did and i missed it. thats a decent built car also. not low budget shit.

slowgreen99
03-22-2013, 08:21 AM
The green car is me. Yeah we were testing, and broke a rocker arm. Mark's "white" car is nice and has a lot if time in it. I guess its to each their own. Everyone's entitled to an opinion.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:26 AM
oh you the new school green or the foxbody green? both nice cars. the foxbody is faster though!

ForceFed4g63
03-22-2013, 08:28 AM
I've been out there quite a few times and I don't remember it ever being that bad. Maybe I've just missed the crazy times though.

slowgreen99
03-22-2013, 08:29 AM
Newer one, and sure! Whatever helps you sleep! Making noise doesn't mean it's fast.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:30 AM
If i go again ill just go to the opposite side and walk to food etc. the mess of shit is on the main side.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:32 AM
but the sound of induction is so sexy.. but nah that foxbody was hookin and gettin. i watched him do 3 solid passes that were def low 7's. and that car looked fully streetable

slowgreen99
03-22-2013, 08:35 AM
Ok, ill say it. You're clueless to racing. Mines fully streetable and low 7s? That car is a little bit faster than low 7s.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:35 AM
if the foxbody was to grudge that 6.0 nova. heads up 2/3 id put my money on the fox if they wanted to up boost/jack timing and run a risky tune or maybe throw some spray on it that foxbody is no joke and can get that black nova i saw. i was just really impressed with that green foxbody basically.

slowgreen99
03-22-2013, 08:38 AM
What nova? And wow

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:38 AM
i have only seen these vehicles once take in mind. and 0 timeslips for any. i just know from my years at dragstrips. that foxbody was hookin and gettin and they werent running risky at all it seemed. and when i watched the 6.0 shootout thingy i know that foxbody was close to 6's if not high 6's. and i saw 0 spray and im sure if they wanted to blow motor they could get a lower ET.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 08:39 AM
thought i saw a black nova run once or twice. im not to good with early model stuff ima young buck into new technology. but there was onyl 2 fast black vehicles. one had green on the bottom 2 tone. the solid black one i thought was a nova. and thats the one im talking about.

and im new to the ownership of a race vehicle. just been going to strips since i was a kid. so yea im not a badass yet. thats the only reason i made this account/posted on this thread. cause i was going to cut my beast loose for my first time at dorchester cause its closest track. but after 2 weekends ive decided to find a diff track. its to much pressure there for a newbie like myself to be approached to grudge etc when im trying to learn my vehicle etc.

Sounds like this guy needs to go to a car show instead of a racetrack. All he is talking about is what a car looks like and how much money they have in it. If that's all he cares about, a car show might be more appropriate.

I feel like the old one here, cause I have been going to Dorchester since it opened, and know the family that ownes it very well. They do have some issues that need to be addressed, but I have never had any problems with anyone out there. I am not really a grudge racer either, but I have to admit I enjoy the grudge racing and espicially some of the negotiations, they can be funny as hell. If those types bother you got to the other side or even up by the starting tower is pretty safe as well. They usually do the grudge thing at the far end, and the cops are not going to do anything about the grudge thing, cause they are not on the streets doing it, eventhough that is questionable. I have to agree with Josh and a few others, cause the staging lanes need to be locked down to racers and crew. You can see good from both sides of the track, and people not racing or little kids have no business in the staging lanes. Race organization is the only other thing that gets to me. If a race is supposed to start at 7, then start at 7. If you are late you miss it, be on time next time. Unless something happened on the track to make it start later. I really see no reason for a sportsman bracket with 20 to 40 cars take til midnight or after to complete, when it is supposed to start at 7. I have spoke to the guys running it now, and they are trying to make some changes, but they have so many requests thrown at them, I guess you eat an elephant a bite at a time. I think the big things that would help the most is locking down the staging lanes, and better organizining the race, because then you could get the cars to come that doesn't, due to the cluster. Now a normal Sunday test and tune, all bets are off. Just my .02 cents..:bigthumb:

I've had my son out there many times and he is 3. Sometimes get in the mix with him by my side bc it's all just talk and nothing more. Like said before, most tracks down south stay open mainly bc of grudge racing and that's what a good bit if them do at Dorchester. Carolina is a nice track and you still get mobs of "brohams" around and catch a whiff of some funny stuff from time to time but it don't make it a bad/unsafe place. Oh and the same as darlington, bowman, ect. Maybe stick to bracket racing so you can see pretty cars and see what they run so you won't be way off at guessing

We're planning on taking my car to this race if the weather holds up and i can find somewhere to fill my nitrous bottles!

Sounds good josh ill stop by and say hey if I see u. I'll be there with a few other buddy's running the race so should be a good turnout if the weather holds off.

exit 8 off 95 for nitrous at mike@unique tuning i believe. or redline in dorchester prob 2 best bets for the nitrous. c-ya @screven!

there is a white s10 twin turbo that runs screven!! that truck is ssiiicckkk
newer body s10

Qwik_Sn95
03-22-2013, 10:49 AM
Yea I run him in the last true street race. Not sure how a twin turbo methanol truck qualifyz for that.

svtguy
03-22-2013, 10:54 AM
last time i saw him run he shot the hardtop off the bed down the track<from flex>. was loose and stayd in.. the guy is young and has ballz of steel. but the truck has to have atleast 900at tire. think when i talked to him he said that night he was on 8psi...

svtguy
03-22-2013, 10:57 AM
when i saw him. he had drag radials on.swapped slicks at track. and truck was tagged. think that qualified him. anything tagged/current up to date your good. im prob wrong. but thats my guess

03-22-2013, 11:00 AM
Does the guy with the truck race for money?

svtguy
03-22-2013, 11:05 AM
probably. think the truck is a grudge truck. dont think its setup for a bracket. seems to wild/unpredictable. everytime i have been to screven hes there. he will prob be running saturday night. but i have no clue..last i was at screven was almost a year ago

Qwik_Sn95
03-22-2013, 11:05 AM
Not sure but the trucks not crazy fast. Think it went a 5.7x to win the true street shootout a few months back.

03-22-2013, 11:14 AM
damn! what does the true street race payout?

Qwik_Sn95
03-22-2013, 11:18 AM
Screvens not really on top of organized racibg so the last true street race was like last march or Feb. They do a ss race every now and then but just about anything goes as long as its stock suspension. Couple 4sec capible cars in that class but the last one a 5.40 car won it cause the track wasn't holding.

That's the same as savannah river dragway right? I seen they have a 28" tire race that just says no tube chassis and no barz.

Jimmyz18
03-22-2013, 11:44 AM
I have to say the track isn't the best one out there, but it is a place to go and it's not costly to race. I bring my little girls there often too, they are 7 and 5 with no issues. I;ve onky had one problem and that was some ass pissing between my trailer and truck

Correct that's it. I think they just call it a 28" tire race cause ss doesn't sound good.

I was told tomorrow is just a 400 to win. I dont know how far it pays back bit its 100$ to enter which sounds kinda bs to me. They are some cheap fuckers at this track

If that's all there paying, I'll more than likely won't be going! After buying disel, race fuel, nitrous fill up, and entry fee I'll come out in the negatives and that's even if i win I'd still be in negatives

There is something wrong with smoking weed at the Chessa? News to me.....It's not crack man, weed makes shit funny and calms you down, plus it smells good, not bad (my opinion...).

If you do not like black people, Dorchester is not for you. I haven't been there many times, but I've always had a good time smoking blunts and smashing beer bottles there....lol

if your lightning is KB/whippled or has a turbo setup i would love to race. let me get my truck out shop first and get a paycheck under my belt. then we can meet someplace some weekend strip or street. im in HHI so chucktown is a 2hour drive for me atm. but i would drive 5hours to race another lightning!! i think a L vs L would be a good start to my drag racing.. was planning on going to watch screven run tonight. looks like rain is gonna cancel that event

@oldskoolstang my first fuckup with da law was at savannah dragway. i used to run a honda prelude there black. with white honda emblem on hood. fastest i did was 8.1 though :( i never understood what happened to that track or why they stopped running. that place was slammed. screven doesnt get the turnout savannah used to have. think people chose douglas and atlanta>screven to local GA residents

oldskoolstang
03-23-2013, 09:30 PM
Savannah Dragway was much more family friendly than Dorschester has ever been in my lifetime. It was about the same level of shit track. I loved it. My car worked great there. When they shut it down in 2005 it really sucked.

If you had the black Prelude with nitrous and the "It's o.k. to be faster than v8's" on the windshield, then you went to school with me. I don't ever remember it running a 8.1 though....maybe a 9.1.....but I could be thinking of a different person and different car.
