saw a smooth move by a local cop few weeks ago:
everybody usually comes off 526 onto 26 in a group, and a LOT of time, there's a PapaBear of some kind.
we all play "restrictor plate racing" and just ride along behind him, usually at the speed limit, ~65mph no big deal..still moving good.
but when we get near Ashley Phosphate, and the PoPo gets off at AP, everybody ROLLS OUT, and gets up to ~75 in the fast lane.
this time, the PoPo got off at AP, and when we broke loose, a MiniVan RIPPED off up I-26, and he musta been doing over 75, because he was walking my dog, and my dog has a BIG step.....
sure enough, the PoPo went up the frontage road, got BACK on I-26, chased the MiniVan down, and gave him some free paperwork during the autograph session.
and THEN the rest of us rolled out!!

I've seen a cop that was traffic enforcing get off the highway, where as the long train of cars promptly sped up to the usual 10 over, and then mostly slammed on the brakes as they noticed said cop come roaring back onto the highway from the on ramp. The exit had stopped him at the top of a hill where he had a clear vantage of everyone gunning it on the highway and he just got back on with trollface.jpg fully engaged and pulled over the lead vehicle.

I wish I could say that I am suprised, but I am not.
I remember a time in the place I grew up in N.C. where County cops would show up to the street races (out in rural areas) to watch and then let you know when the HWP were on the way so we could leave in time.
I guess it all hinges on the kind of person you are to begin with. I've met some "really good City/County/SCHP" in my time of living here that could have really hung me out to dry but instead gave me warnings and let me be on my way.

If I got caught doing everything I've done on the highway, I'd be in trouble, too. If he's been caught that many times, imagine how many he got away with. Rap sheets are not usually tied to strictly traffic violations.
My point is that he apparently goes out of his way to try to catch someone else doing wrong. Most officers are just doing their jobs, and breaking the law is not a reason to hate them. Some take it too far. I have been run into the median on 526 to and from work by reckless drivers and wished the police were nearby.

This is true. It is appalling that an officer would act in that manner. Period. I think it's crazy how they guys on yellow bullet try to put the blame on Chad (not that he is totally innocent). Just imagine if they would have caused a large accident.

Both were wrong. The officer should have kept his cool, but he is human. There is no denying that Chad was the insitgator, but the officer should not have done what he did- no doubt. What that video doesn't show is Chad's middle finger when he passed the officer....
In my opinion, if you keep going around asking for someone to punch you in the face, sooner or later someone is going to do it. Just because you got a black eye and videotaped it doesn't automatically make you the victim.

I say the cop did the difficult thing and quit his job. Maybe the cop had his own rap sheet at the department he worked for? Regardless, the cop should have stuck it out and sucked it up. Now his career is at an end. Though he acted out, the act of quitting his job means that he also accepted responsiblity for everything. Though not all the facts are known, at least someone did the right thing.
I wonder what the local police said to Chad after the 911 call ended?? I bet there's a lot more going on here than anyone knows.
The video doesn't show what led the cop to act out in the first place. Did Chad act out before he hit the record button? Given the fact that the cop quit his job over this mess, Chad knows that's the green light to take full advantage of what happened. If I had a rap sheet like Chad's, I may hold a huge grudge for the police. Given what was said on Charleston Thuglife, its easy to type this.

I was brake checked twice by a Berkeley county cop. Then he pulled me over, said I was following him to closely. I didnt think I was. Seemed like a reasonable distance to me.
