This might be a doozie. We just took in a 2000 Vette, base. body and interior is in ok shape, not the best. No dents, just scratches, Drivers seat is tore up, pass. seat is great. Auto trans, 5.7. There was a new odometer cluster put in that reads 96K, but the owner says that there is only about 46K on the motor. Carfax goes up to 38K, and the little paperwork that comes with it goes up to 38K. Looking to get $12500 for it. any interest, you should know how to contact me by now. The car hasnt been cleaned as of yet, but will be.

a buddy says any C5 with many miles has trashed seats.
maybe they put their butt cheeks on them & slide down? IDK, but he said you just plan on re-doing seats if you buy a high mile vette.

Looks like salt water got to the aluminum in the engine bay. Along with the dry rot, was this a Katrina car?

someone leave a few cats in it during a thunderstorm? interior is shot
With all the aluminum pitting like it is that has to be a coastal car or has been in a flood. where is this car from? hate to think how the spark plugs look. plugs seized in the heads by chance?

Im just posting, because we are putting this on consignment, we didnt take it in for anything. This is what the lady wants for it. Its a 1 owner car, here in the south. No flood damage, just hasnt been run since the ladys husband passed away. Before sale, It will go through a safety inspection.

I have a 06 trailblazer SS, the odo says 91k but trust me, it only has 3k ;)
R2 that seat and polish up the engine bay, should bring at least 10k

That has got to be the most tore up drivers seat I have seen in a long time. At 46k or 96k. I don't even know if I would want to try and sell it on consignment with what she is looking for + something for the dealership.

i think if you read between the lines: she brought it in, they won't even take it on trade, but they put her in a new car of her choice, to get her acclimated to the new car, and now they are getting "buy bids" on this vette before they can even figure out what to do.
they can't even begin to ink a deal till they get a REAL price on this clunker.
and that's basically what Matt is telling us, without divulging the fact, that if one of us were to offer more than the local Wholesalers, we could have it for a song.
I am thinking if you made a SERIOUS offer...you would be the high bidder, and the owner.

I've seen worse. You guys are acting like a fucked up seat makes the whole car worthless (well, it is a base C5....)......I mean for $12,500, no fucking way, but for $8500-9000, sure.

There's a big difference between a "worn-out and possibly splitting seat bolster in a high mileage vette" and a "seat that has had a honey badger sex orgy that ended in death for everyone involved, happen on it." It also shows that this car definitely was not taken care of.
Let's also not forget about the replaced cluster unit, mileage discrepancy, an engine bay that looks like it was left out during Katrina, and who knows what else. It's more so the "who knows what else" that also brings the value down.
Lastly, this is CHP. 'Nuff said.

I agree with all of ya, no harm, no foul. I took the car out for a little run, and it runs and shift great. If the car was sitting in the sun for periods of time, it could do this. I'm sure half of your engine bays dont look to grand either. Not making excuses, but a detail department could make this car look new, minus the seat. I could have left the pics out, but as I always believe, disclose everything, that makes for better business. Once the car is cleaned, I'll get "after" pics.

we sold stuff like this at the corvette lot I worked at, just took a while.
somebody will buy it, there's a butt for every seat

I have no doubt there may not be anything wrong with the car. I am just saying I have never understood why cars get put on the lot that haven't been detailed in some form. Hell when I was in high school the local Chevy dealership paid a couple of guys i went to school with to clean up vehicles after school. I know you can't invest money into it and if the car doesn't sell then the owner takes the then clean car home, but at the same time your dealership has a reputation to keep up. I think the detail cost should be upfront invested by the owner. Not like you guys are trying to make your money detailing cars.
Oh and you want to bet on the underhood.

so your claim of our motors looking the same if not worse is a false claim. I can take a pic of my work trucks motor that has never been cleaned except when sold when new. no hurricane cars here.
yeah, something has to be up with the car for there to be that amount of pitting on the aluminum pieces...

X3 most of our work trucks look like that within a few years, all depends on the environment, island cars left in the elements will do that in a quickness

i bought a Honda out of one of the elevated houses about two blocks off the beach, been under there a year, it was HORRIBLE. i was afraid to take bolts off, they were so rusty. rumor was motor only lasted a year before it put purty bits in the oil.
figure if this person had cash to let a vette set 5 years, they are near salt water
