I bought this car a few months ago and despite loving how great of an all-around car it is, I simply want something with a V8. It handles amazingly, has great power/torque, seats 4, has all the creature comforts, and no issues. A/C blows cold.

Trades: Doubt I'll get much on here but worth asking. V8 preferred, no Mustangs, Merkurs, boats, bikes, trucks, SUVs.

My car:

1999 e36 M3 (last and best year that the e36 M3s were made)
180k miles
5 speed
Clean/Clear title in hand
$8500 obo

-Factory DINAN carbon fiber intake
-Factory DINAN injectors
-Factory DINAN software ("chip")
-Fern Green Metallic exterior with black/tan interior.
-Vader seats (highly valued)
-BBS RK Plasma 17x8 wheels squared (highly sought after) with brand new Continental ExtremeContact DW tires (245/40/17)
-UUC short shifter
-UUC System U Catback
-Aftermarket headunit that plays anything and is SiriusXM capable. The lights are customizable and can look stock orange so it blends in well
-HK speakers up front with BSW (expensive) speakers in the rear deck with closed pods. Has some good quality bass
-Sunroof
-New 18% tint on driver/passenger/rear windows. Was done at Palmetto Pro Tint using their best film. NOTE, tint is not shown in the pictures because I took them a week before I had it tinted.
-Digital Climate Control unit
-Full size spare with new Michelin Pilot Sport tire
-Cruise control
-Fog lights

Not Pictured:

- Only the first picture shows the tint.
- The new tires aren't pictured
- I replaced the darker tan floor mats with OEM black M3 mats that look 10x better. Will include the darker tan ones too.

Maint:

-All cooling system components, struts, and bushings were replaced by previous owner. All problem areas of these cars were addressed. It handles VERY sharp and responsive.
-Just did an oil change with Castrol Synthetic EuroBlend 0w-30
-Clutch is thought to be an upgraded M5 clutch, according to a knowledgeable BMW enthusiast. Engages well and doesn't slip at all.
-NO check engine light or otherwise, except for a common SRS (airbag) light that could simply have been triggered by a faulty seat belt sensor or when the door panels were taken off by the previous owner to upgrade speakers.
-No mechanical issues at all.

Bad:
-There is a small tear in the driver seat bolster, bottom cushion. I got quoted by an automotive upholstery business for $150 to fix it. Can pass that on to you.
-Small dent in the hood, right above the kidneys from the previous owner when a guy backed up into him in a parking lot. It doesn't affect functionality or "that" noticeable, but I want to be honest and upfront.

Oops, forgot to answer that.

Honestly I don't really know. What I do know is that although the M3 was a great little car, comfortable, trouble free, and great on twisty mountain roads....it bored me. I don't know why but it just didn't excite me much. Maybe my standards are still too high, coming from the Z06 (if you can consider what I had as "high") but I want something unique, that I look forward to driving, that is easier (and cheaper) to get power out of, or just different.

Couple of things I've considered:

1) Older Corvette: mid 70s-82. I'd rather get a chrome bumper '68-72 but they are out of my price range. Tough part is getting a decent one in my price range, in manual, and that has working A/C and wipers. I can add A/C and get the wipers working, but the rest has to be awesome. Manual is a must though. I found a '70 on CL in NC that I really really want but after talking to the guy extensively it seems to be a bit bigger of a project than I can realistically afford right now.

2) Jeep Wrangler (TJ or CJ). When I was shopping around online before I bought the M3, there were plenty of the lifted and modified TJs for sale around $8k. Now? NOTHING. I swear the prices have sky rocketed and the ones around $8k are mostly stock or have shitty lifts, high miles, or just bland as hell. The ones that I remember looking at are either not for sale or in the teens which is ridiculous. If I could buy back the '98 TJ I used to have that was built and had all the goodies for what I paid, I'd be ecstatic.

3) BMW 8 series, 850i or ci. Stupid choice, not logical at all. They were very expensive to maintain and repair back when new, and haven't gotten any better. But, I have always loved these cars..the styling, the interior, the V12 that is super slow, and did I mention the styling? I can find some in my price range, but they are either wrecked and not fixed well, wrecked and fixed well but have a salvage title, have high high miles, or are automatic. I want manual. I don't care about speed or handling in this car...

4) F-Body. Would have to be manual, and modified. The more modified the better. For me to get into one of these that I don't particularly like the looks or styling of, I'd want to go fast. Ricky Bobby fast. LS would be preferred. Manual of course. I keep an eye on LS1tech but eh...I'll have to be patient.

5) Ford Lightning? Don't know too much about them but I wouldn't mind something around the 2000-2001 year with not too many miles. More mods the better but not to the point that it'll blow due to abuse or something. I've come close to getting one a few times before I got the M3. I figure I could load the motorcycle in the back if I ever need, or tow boats/jetskis.

6) C5 Corvette: High miles, possibly needs to be overhauled, rest of car needs to be decent though, manual is a must.

7) Something with an LS in it that didn't come with one. Because LS swap FTW.

What kind of price range are you in for buying a lightning?

BIRDMAN
09-25-2013, 09:19 PM
My price range for anything is between $6k-8.5k. If it's really really worth it then I could squeeze $9k.. I know for a lightning that's a tough bracket to get close to, but I have seen them from time to time.

Basically, I either want a lifted Wrangler, nice C3, 2000-2001 Lightning, or an LS car that is fast-ish. All manual. :cheers
