Went with a good friend Steve Bales and shot up some rounds at Quick Shot in West Ashley. He always has fun toys to shoot. Shot this target up with 48 rounds at 25 ***FEET*** with a 9mm S&W M&P. I have a 40 S&W M&P and let me tell you the 9mm is much more fun to shoot. Gonna add it to my bucket list. Shot a 40 Glock...garbage. Shot my 1911 45 Desert Eagle, always a good choice. Got to use a speed loader(lulu) and man did it make things easier!

Why is the 9 better? I just got a 40 the other week.

Only better to me in terms of placement. Smaller round so it doesn't kick as much. Both great guns and I own a 40 like I said. Just cheaper rounds to shoot as well.

Are you sure that was 25 yards (75 feet)?

I guess the 25 on the wall could have been in FEET! My bad! If you can see in the picture the 2nd line of white concrete that is about where the 25 was on the wall. I do believe your right now that I think about it. :?

Yeah those are not yards those are feet lol. Good shooting anyways Tex.

Have you tried a Springfield XD-M .40? The "M" denotes matchgrade barrel...try seeing how it groups for you at 25 nautical miles.

I assumed, everything we deal with in the navy is yards...

Deserve that....:finger: Never shot an XD but never heard anything bad about them either.

Haha, I got lucky with the nautical reference...didn't know you were Navy.

Seriously, go try the XDM .40. I used to have one and loved it. Had to sell it to buy [just] rear tires for the Z06. lol

Another fun practice is two in the chest and one in the head as quick and controlled as possible.

Bradley shot this with his first shot at 25' with a new gun.

I was kind of mad at him.

My m&p 9 VTAC is one of my favorite pistols to shoot.

No problem Sean. Just shoot as much as I do and you'll start bullseye'ing as much as I do to.

I'm glad I waited for others to mention the XDS. Figured after I harped so much on the XDM that Shane would just roll his eyes if I ecstatically proposed the XDS right after. lol

I'm waiting for them to release the XDS in .40...though I've been considering just getting a .45 since the prices most likely have fallen a bit on them.

The only thing I don't like is that, as far as I know, they don't have a simple "pinky-extension" mag for them. I don't want an extended mag as that makes the handle TOO long, but just want somewhere to grip with my pinky as the stock length is too short for my taste.

That was the issue with the 40 Glock, there was NO handle and all top and the fuker was all over the place.

No, as I said, I don't want a mag extension, but JUST a pinky extension. That mag in your link, though adds 2 more rounds, makes it too long for my liking. I just want a stock flush mag, witih a pinky extension out of the bottom.

PapaBear

There is an extension. I have them on my carry mags. Lemme find a link

Bingo, I thought I had seen them before, but the last time I talked to a guy at PSA, he assured me rather condescendingly that they don't make such a thing for those guns.

Thanks

Doesnt make much since to me to add length but not capacity but to each his own.

Just a little heads up to potential XDS buyers and current owners.

It barely adds any length. And it's purpose is to add STABILITY and comfort, by allowing the pinky to have something to grip on.

No need to be defensive bro. Its your opinion roll with it. I like my XDS without either. :bigthumb:

All Shields and XPS's recalled per ATP. Did get some new grips though so not a wasted trip.

Nice choice on the Hogue rubber grips. Those Hogue rubber grip panels for the 1911 give a unique grippy feel that you can't get with hard grip panels.

I have the Hogue full wrap around version with the finger grooves. This version fits my large paws to a tee. A firm grip combined with those finger grooves really locks the pistol into the hand. The gain in control is like shooting a 9mm 1911 instead of a .45.
