And you pulled each coil wire to see which one changed?

And you pulled each coil wire to see which one changed?
No I was checking things like headers hitting the frame or anything loose. It has to be something inside. I'll be pulling wires tomorrow.

Rob,
I had something quite similar on the first engine I ever fully built (granted it was a pre-86 SBC) But had Great oil pressure even hot @ idle and still had a ticking/slap sound that changed w/RPM. This was after like 2 years but no more than 2k on the engine. Anywho, I had a lifter come apart in cyl No 1 intake come apart completely...Only thing thats sucks if it is in your case, you'd obviously have to pull the heads. Theres no chance its just the valvetrain geometry thats off alittle, like one pushrod's a different length or anything? I ask cause its hard to really hear Just the engine in the vid

I hate this for you rob, i know how long you have been working on that car on all of your spare time. I know you are probably over it at this point but keep your head up and finish the thing.

Tough to say. I never heard the motor run. Its sat in so many places. The car has been moved to a few different places. So many people have had hands on it.
I'm NOT saying anyone did anything intentional and I'm not saying anybody is to blame. Its possible that the motor was fucked up when I bought it but its also possible something found its way into the motor. It happened, it sucks, time to scrap some money together and get it running again.
I will say that i didn't find anything but I wasn't looking for anything. I was expecting to find a spun bearing. There was metal everywhere.

is that an ls1 or? i am not familiar with the build....
looks like you could get the heads cut, valve job, and replace the piston if the bore isnt jacked up.
on a side note, i bought a john deere several years ago with a knocking motor. wound up being a screw from the carb backing itself out and going through the intake into the cylinder. after getting basketballed around for awhile it became imbedded in the aluminum cylinder head and the piston was smacking it every time it hit tdc. i removed the screw, smoothed everything out, and put the head back on. runs fine. lol

Nope. Block has several holes in it. Rod broke near the piston. Swung though the block and came to rest on the cam shaft. Wasn't built. It was a 90k mile pull out. Intake has been off a few times. Manifolds have been off for a long time.
