Why is the site being overrun with people just posting their shit for sale? We need to have a minimum post requirement for any for sale section...

What's that matter? Can't guarantee that you'll be able to judge the character and honesty of a person with 50 posts min etc. I'm sure the site owner appreciates the extra traffic to the site anyways.

I'm just trying to figure out why someone would buy a brand new car then sell it a few months later...

Because then you can weed out who is actually interested in being a part of the site and who just wants to use it as just another dumping ground for their shit.

we have had a few who posted a good bit of stuff just for sale with no other posts.
i am more than willing to purge them providing a higher up admin gives me the go ahead..
i did a clean up about a year or so ago of sold stuff and just various off the wall 4 sale stuff.. i do pop in almost daily just in case... when posts are reported i do get alerts but 99% of the time its not in my sub category where i have any power.

I mean I didnt really consider it spam since this is a for sale sub-forum and anyone looking in it would be interested. It would really suck for someone to miss out on something badass because you didnt have the post count to list it.
Because then you can weed out who is actually interested in being a part of the site and who just wants to use it as just another dumping ground for their shit. It's not like I'm selling patio furniture here, this is a sportscar on a sportscar forum specifically for lowcountry residents. Seems pretty relevant to me and something buyers would like to see.
Anyway I'm selling such a new car because I made a mistake buying it. This car does 2 things really well, drive fast and look good, and only one of those things I can really ever do. It's almost frustrating treating this car like my wife's sentra on my 7 minute commute back and forth to work, and I have come to the realization I'll never be drag racing it or modding it up or any of that. The car just serves no function for me and I find myself needing cargo carrying capacity more than loud engine growl.

you were over looking the fact you have 1 post... most members are fine with the fact its a car,mustang,whatever...
with your explanation of why your selling its basically says i bought something that has 0 use to me.. it was in impulse buy but i don't want to loose money trading it in to a dealership so ill make money off you guys instead and act like i am doing you the favor of getting a sweet ride.
like spam no one vouched for you you never came on and introduced yourself when you gotthe car, didnt go to a sponser shop or meet a member at a bar and shoot the shit. .. you kinda showed up at the doorstep with a pamphlet.. its kinda the equivalent of being a door to door Jehovah witness or vacuum salesmen.
with all that said it looks like a nice car.. i like the color..never liked from the quarters back on the new 15's.. the lcd/dash looks nice.. glws

eh, if you have made an intro post saying "I was gonna LsWON this car...but changed my mind...."
THEN it woulda been ok.
forum has been pretty dead lately, but yeah, it is forum etiquette to at least intro yourself, or something. no biggie. that's a car a lot of us would to get our hands on....

I'm not making money on this deal, I still had to buy the car. I'm losing money, approximately $3000. If I trade it in to a dealership I'll lose $10,000. At the same time you wont find a loaded '15 GT for under 38k, so it's a mutually beneficial transaction. I lose less and you get more. It's just business. This is why we sell private party. Dealer trade-in's are historically considered a bad deal.

Except I am selling vacuums to a vacuum enthusiast community at a live sales event. I made this post in the "for sale" section. Why on earth someone would visit a for-sale section and then complain about someone selling something is beyond me.
I'd understand if no sales forum existed and I just put this crap up in your general forum. Then it's spam because nobody asked for it and nobody knows me well enough to care. Is my mustang suddenly better if I have a join date from 2012 with 1000 posts? Would it make sense for CL or ebay to block sales from people who have less than 1 year residency at their home address?
If the members of this website have a problem with new people selling things then I recommend you close the sales forum and only allow such listings in your general forum, then you can delete everything posted by first timers so you have a nice limited selection of offers from a few loyal members.

Nobody knows who the hell you are, and nobody can vouch for you. If you've ever been on the internet for more than 5 minutes of your life for the past 20 years, you would know that it's proper "etiquette" to at the very least introduce yourself to the forum before you try to sell something.
And yes, your Mustang is suddenly better if you were a member here for a few years with a bunch of posts. Almost everyone on this forum knows everyone else in person. We have (had) track days, we have dyno days, etc. We know and trust each other, that's how enthusiast forums work.
Besides, it doesn't have an LS swap so nobody cares anyways :ty:

How about a minimum post of like 50 to sell stuff OR become a supporting member and have the privilege to post f/s or f/t items immediately?

Just over 43k. They matched a quote I got from Brandon Ford in Bradenton Florida. They even threw in a spare tire.
