hey guys,

I just put a sns stage 3 cam (his new version by cam motion) in, some messaged 243 heads, ported ls2 intake and tb and I have the tune dialed in pretty good but my idle feels like its fighting itself and the gas smell is pretty crazy. My wot and cruise is pretty on point as i can cruise around in 5th gear at under 1500 rpm without any real bucking which is pretty good for such a big cam I think. I have been reading a bit about EOIT and there are a whole bunch of different theories and spreadsheets out there and it seems like something I really need to get dialed in on my car. Can somebody help me with this or have a spreadsheet that they know works I can use? Our pcms use a boundary, normal and makeup tables and im not exactly sure what to do with them anymore lol. Thanks for your help.

You would want to add values to your boundry normal and makeup tables, which delays the injector pulse, in an attempt to prevent introducing fuel during overlap until things improve. Generally 1 -2 increase is enough. You should also see your idle fuel trims richen slightly when you do this.

If the "smell" at idle is burning to the eyes, it is due to high NOX levels from a lean mixture or too much idle timing, or both. If it is smelly, but not irritating to the eyes, then it is simply rich.

thanks.
I got the cam card today and plugged the numbers into the spreadsheet but im confused on what numbers to use and where to put them. There is a new normal evc and ivo and a true normal evc and ivo. Which goes where?

Your "New Normal" under EVC would be the value you want. It goes in the "Normal" table. This will be a starting point and may require a little tweaking to get the characteristics you like.

ok, do I mess with the makeup table at all?

Actually, I would just apply the difference to the boundary value and leave the other two alone. It's a little easier. It will shift them both. So if the calculation is .30 more than the factory normal, just add that to the boundary value. That will shift the other events an equal amount. Keeps things neater.

well none of that really seemed to do anything but i am going to leave it at 5.8.

ended up going to my pe tables and set my hot and cold pedal to 0 under 1200 rpm, kpa to 5 and rpm to 0 to make it go into pe under 1200 rpm and setting my pe tabe to give me 16 afr under 1200 rpm and it seemed to like that. it actually chops a little more but it does not shake as bad and smell is not at bad.
