Ok. So the tard who had the car before me fubar'd the rear UCA Mounts on the body. They removed and replaced the mounts with what is pictured below. The "Mounts" are bolted to the car with 4 bolts. There is a metal plate inside the car "under the back seat" that sandwiches the factory floor pan and is bolted down using the 4 bolts via the mount underneath the car. (Make sense??)
What I DONT like about this setup is the fact that the UCA isnt completely supported. There is only one "side" of the arm supported. IMO NOT Kosher at all. So Looking for some knowledge.. how would you fix this?
Weld it all up and add a plate so both sides of the arm are supported? (Ghetto but cost efficient and effective) Scratch it completely and install a Wild Rides S-Box (Effective but not cost efficient) or....
Here are some pics of what I'm working with. You can see that the arm geometry between the UCA and Mount is not correct? Is the Arm wrong? Or is the Mount incorrect?

Example of incorrect geometry: This is the passenger side mount.

Never mind the ghetto blue and rigged up exhaust hanger. That's coming off.
Just need some input on what you would do to fix this.

Here is my suggestion. For under 400.00 and fixed right. (Plus Labor)
For a turbo and stardard shift tranny. I would strongly recommend it. If mine ever fails that is what I plan on buying.

Holcomb Motorsports in Lumberton NC sells a S-Box repair kit. It's the whole upper mounting point replacement kit. Kind of expensive over 400.00, but this will fix your problem. Their part number is WR-SBOXF.

That is the Wide Rides set up only you pay more at Holcomb. 374.00 through Wild Rides.

Morey,
I was typing my post at the same time you were with the Holcomb catalog in front of me. I'm glad you posted that site. They definitely have a better price!

Well a buddy linked me to a S-box for Fox cars for 265 so I jumped on it. Just gotta find someone to install it now. No welder here at the apartment.

I doubt the golfers would like me running a generator all day. My garage is only about 150 feet from the Tee box.

All I can say is wow! They put gussetts on the brackets, but yet it looks like the entire trailing arm is suspended by the bolt. Man thats crazy!! I have alot of Wild Rides stuff in my car, and its thought out pretty well..:bigthumb:

IT IS. The entire arm is resting on ..technically one side of the bolt. BUMP THAT..
I have the S Box on order now. Should be here this week. Will I be able to install this here at home with bolts and drive the car a few miles to the shop to have it welded in? I would think as long as I use plenty of good hardware and dont jump any rail road tracks or anything I would be able to.
Thoughts.

i have never worked on any of that stuff but if it were me, i would also order some new bushings for the control arms and while your at the welder, have him box your control arms also. looks like you can adjust the control arm position with that new setup
i dont know what the stock setup looks like but that may be the most dangerous thing i have ever seen. thank god you caught that now before destroying your car

I already have solid lowers with good bushings. I also have a set of boxed stock uppers with good bushings installed ready to go on when I get the box welded in.

Can't be any worse than one sided bolts holding everything in place. Thats what I did, bolted everything into place, and drove it to Camtech, where Cameron had one of his guys make it permenent..:bigthumb:

Good deal then. I'll do all of the measuring and bolting in. Get everything installed and then drive it to the shop for welding. That should cut down on cost to get it welded in as well.

Torque arm plus Panhard bar would replace it all nicely. No more UCA's and bad stock geometry to begin with.

Have you priced a torque arm? For what I spent on the S-box and install I still couldnt buy a torque arm.

yes but I feel like the stock geometry and UCA's setup to begin with is flawed and isnt worth the time to replace. Griggs has some nice pieces for good prices.

People go 7's with parts mounted in the stock locations. That's good enough for me.
