I put ceramic pads on the wife's durango. This weekend I lost our brakes in the mountains  which made me wonder?? I heard that they are better with brake dust (which is why I put them on there) but do they hold up as well and especially with the heat? I don't care if the truck looks good going over the side of a cliff.

Also, the truck was pretty heavy too. It had 6 adults and one mini me. 8)

I have no first hand experience, but I have heard ceramic is bad for the rotors. During hard braking the rotors will crack.

ceramics dont brake as well, but they are quieter. I got Hawk HP Plus on the saleen and it stops 10x better then the ceramics I took off. Somewhat noisy, but i'd rather stop :)

Same thing happened to me in my wife's Durango in the mountains. Factory stuff overheated!!! Took it to Dodge. They said change your brake fluid. nothing wrong with the pads!!! :?

im seeing a trend...dodges are ghey lol

In all honesty, it is probably just a combo of worn out rubber brake lines, old fluid, and not so great pads ona big heavy machine

The ceramic are only on the front. They are brand new because I just replaced them. They stop great on flat land but not in the hills. No brake dust though.

I have been using ceramic pads for a few years now on all 4 corners of my mustang and have never had any problems with them other than the cost. :( They stop the car great, haven't been noisey, don't throw dust all over everything, and I have seen no ware on my rotors. Just my 2 cents. :)
