Yes, and it will blow the welds on the intake.

Sorry for the thread jack
Put an intake, cat-back, and a tune with a 50 shot and save up for something that comes stock with a little more power. Maybe find a used centrifigal supercharger kit somewhere that fits it, that you could make 7-9 lbs of boost.

Changed my sig since I don't know what the car makes for power anymore and the turd hasn't been to the track in forever so why show times? Grudge racer? Hahaha I wouldn't have a chance hiding what my car runs or could run.
Back on topic, an intake and good shot of nitrous would be all I would do. The 3.8 from Ford isn't a very good sounding motor so exhaust wouldn't be very high on my list.

I can give you a run down on some things to make a 3.8 respectable and be N/A.
Longtubes, exhaust, CAI, tune, and 4.10s. Ive driven a car with those mods and on plain street tires, it went a 9.6. Thats very respectable IMO for a v6 with minimal mods. On good tires and a rear that made both of them spin :hysterical:, id say its good for a 9.2/9.3 how it sat.
O, and this was a 5 speed car, and a girls car at that!
There are also head/cam packages for a 3.8 that makes them wake up. Just research some v6 mustang boards and you will be suprised at what you find im sure. I know theres a stock internal, cammed, nitrous one that runs 12.2 in the 1/4. Thats gettin it done with a v6.

Thats a lot of money to spend to still have a v6.

roughly $1000??? Those are mods that dont hurt anything or ever get used up....Id say its a smart $1000. Hell, if he sprays or supercharged it, then he'd already have longtubes and gears so hes headin in the right direction.

Yes your car will handle a small shot of NITROUS (not nos) provided you have enough fuel supply and good tune.

Seems like a waste of money, the V6's are extraordinarily slow. I would save up for another car. Just my 2 cents.
Harry
12-31-2009, 05:58 PM
No matter what you do with it, it is still going to be slower than a stock V8. Unless you dump alot of money in it. You are wanting to go faster, But I have a feeling you want to be faster than a V8. Of course it is your car and money. Do what you want. Not trying to be an ass but realistic.

like Harry said, its all in how much you want to spend. But there are tons of potential with the 3.8 motor (4.3 stroker kits, turbo, s/c, n2o, etc). Its all in what you want. Itd be cool to say "its just a v6" and cut ass with it.
BTW, I read that the stock v6 block is good for right around 1000 with forged internals.

That is about what the bird makes.:bigthumb: check the super six motorsports page out. It will give you an idea of what is out there and what they can do. Exhaust is harder to get right because it can easily sound like pissed off bees in a jar.

when all is said and done your still going to say " I wish I had a V8" I just think its not worth it.
Personally I would save my money and go to college, the payout has a much better return on investment.

Not all V6's are slow my friend.......there is not a "stock production V8" made now days that my little V6 could not whup in the 1/4, but it is not stock either.....it is also broke at the moment as well. but she will be better than ever soon.....it's a love hate relationship with my GN. Speed is not cheap as most know. Unless you know what you are doing tuning a forced induction V6 for HP, then it is best you stick with a V8 for your power needs.

I never said all V6's are slow lol, just the Mustang ones. I've ridden in both old and new ones, and it always felt slow. Hell there was a bolt on 97 GT that hopped on the Mustang dyno right after me, made a lot of noise and sounded good, but when all was said and done I made almost double his whp, and I was on low boost on my little 16g, that pretty much killed the whole mustang thing for me lol

Can't argue with you there, but don't base the lack of love for mustangs on the slowest turd ever produced by Ford.

Well here is my two cent's. There really is two questions you have to ask yourself. One, is this your primary driver? Two, how fast? I learned the hard way when I was younger dumping alot of mod money in your dd is so much fun. But it suck's when you break it and there's no one to take you to work the next morning ,and you have to do a late night repair job. Don't get me wrong though! A little go with a cool Idle may be what your looking for. But' if you get addicted to wrenching and speed, buy a project car. It's just easier.
BTW Slowgreen99 suggestion's a good setup ffor the money imo.:bigthumb:

too bad you always have to stop off and have the bottle filled if you want to have some fun :sg:
take the same amount of money and buy a used M90 setup off ebay from a supercoupe or xr7 and grab a chip for another $200 and you'll be set with some decent extra power.

That's all well and good. But it isn't as easy as paying some money for stuff and slapping it on.

yeah it is. everything bolts right on. I know, I did it to my little brother's v6 mustang.
ok, well in order to get use the SC intercooler setup on the car I had to cut the mustang's radiator fan down a little and use those ziptie holders for radiators from the parts store but big whoop.
car is much more fun to drive now and he doesnt always have to stop at the parks on rivers to fill up a bottle. he just stomps the gas pedal.

Sell the v6 and save up to buy a gt or something. It will be faster and a whole lot cheaper in the long run. If you insist on modding the six nitrous is about your best bet for cheap and effective.
Darryl Buckner
01-12-2010, 06:46 PM
He wanted easy, simple power. The guy I saw convert his to a Sc Tbird set up was a pain. From the wiring harness changes, to the computer, ect. If you want to spend that kind of money, put a 4.6 mod motor or a 302 in it and call it a day. It will make V6 supercharged power on motor only for the most part, and its about the the same money. Or go to a 4.2 V6 out of the F150 truck, its alot beefier, and the transmission will bolt right up. None of the options are as cheap as nitrous, but I personally don't care what he does, mine runs fine with or without nitrous..:bigthumb:
