Ford has really been making the Mustang enthusiasts proud. With bringing back the infamous 5.0 for 2011 and giving Chevy a run for their money with horsepower wars, now the Ford is getting into GT3 racing with the 2011 Ford Mustang GT3 built by the Marc VDS racing team and Multimatic in Canada. This 2011 Ford Mustang GT3 is going to be competing in the European FIA GT3 championship and is being tested now at the Ford European test facility near Luton, Bedfordshire.

This 2011 Ford Mustang GT3 is powered by a special 5.3L V8 that makes a smooth 560 horsepower. Weighing in at under 3000 lbs (2970lbs), this car has an incredible power to weight ratio. WeÔÇÖre still waiting on more performance numbers from this beast.

Keep dreaming. The 5.0 makes more HP than the chebby 5.3.

This is getting good.. Sort of like the old "Trans Am" days in the 60-70's.

"But the 5.5 liter engine is supposed to be closely linked to production models."

That thing is sexy.
the 5.5 liter engine puts out a more mild 485 horsepower
Not really sure why you wanted to point out this particular fact. Of course, the GT2 Vette is positioned one class higher than the Mustang. Maybe you were trying to show that the Corvette is doing more with less? Either way, road racing is starting to get good again. I was getting tired of watching the Porsche/BMW shows. Nice to see then Americans getting back into it. I know, I know, the Corvette has been around in racing circles for quite some time; but perhaps their move down to GT2 will get more of them playing on home turf. Would be very nice to see.
