my friend has an 07 civic SI with 42k and the motor blew up. bad rod knock. has a k20. anyone have a good recourse for getting a new motor?

look into a jdm importer.. i know the kseries motors are bread and butter right now.

orl look into the k24 hybrid make torque and powa...

tried to talk him into a k24 found him a bottom end for 300. but he wont do it

u cant spin the k24 as high but it makes up for it all over the pwoerband. u can get 250/300 na with a hybrid very easy..
why dont they want to go k24?

only other real option is a integra typer k20 which is hella pricey.

unfortunately the k20 still holds value in parts their are a bunch out their but most dont want to part with them

about the best price he has found so far is 5k

if its rod knock why not just go with a build or oem freshed up build?

yea that actually sound about right for a full motor.. but for 5k he could have a built motor head and cams ect ect.. well a very stout na k20

ill keep my ears open but most of the guys i know still run b series because the k is just to much money still
