Like the wood, gives it a classic look.

Very nice! I'm surprised that Para put a Commander style hammer on this gun in combination with the GI style grip safety.

For around $40, if you are interested in swapping to a high ride beavertail grip safety on for a higher hand hold without major fitting, check this out:

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=16464/Product/1911_AUTO_DROP_IN_BEAVERTAIL_GRIP_SAFETY

This is a Wilson Combat drop in high ride grip safety that doesn't require frame modifications when replacing a GI style like yours. Most folks swapping to this grip safety have pretty good luck by just dropping in, but once in a while some minor fitting may be required.

I have looked at that before. That and an STI trigger.

Have you looked at the S&W M&P compacts? I really like the way they feel.

I carry an XD 9mm subcompact and I can tell you that the fact it has a double stack mag sucks...I wish they would have made it with a single stack so it was narrower...don't get me wrong the gun, although short, looks very beefy and badass...I love my XD, but I just wish it was narrower for a carry that's all...

We have looked at the S&W and I tried to get her to go for an airweight...but she says she wants something that if she runs out of bullets she can throw it at them. hahah

She just really liked how the XD felt in her hand.

The XD is a nice piece for sure. I shot MonteC's and it makes me want to trade my G23 for one.

I did own an XD-9 for a few days, but sold it before I shot it to make a profit. I am not a fan of 9mm weapons.

I totally agree with not liking 9 mms but mine has been nothing but good to me...not one fail to fire, fail to load, fail to eject...nothing...I've shot over 3000 rounds through the gun easily...the reason I got the 9 mm is because it showed up used in the carolina trader for an awesome deal and I bought it even though I was in the market for a 40 cal....still wish I had a 40 cal. for the ballistics...

mmm XD FTW, I've really been thinking about picking up an XD-M 9mm for plinking.. Blasting flying man hole covers (.45) is a little heavy on the pocket for a day at the range.

3 clips dosen't help either :(

New grips look awesome :):)

gerald, i have a "failure to feed" in a Colt .380

could you take a look at it?

I have took the barrel out & polished the feed ramp with a Dremel, seems to be deeper problem than that.

it will jam 3 times in a box of 50.

might chimney with weak ammo, but fail to feed is normally the cause.

was gonna tote it to 'gun doctor' sometime. no rush. been like that since new.

Is what you have a Colt Mustang by chance? If so, they are known to be finicky. I tried a Sig P238 a while back, which is Sig's effort to copy the Colt Mustang .380. It was finicky, too. Failures to go fully into battery in about 5 out of 100, mostly with a full mag or close to it. I tried playing with extra strength recoil springs, extractor tension, etc. Any changes made just created a reliablity issue in another area.

That P238 shattered any confidence I had in any of the pocket .380s, seeing as even Sig couldn't get it quite right. I ended up selling it and getting a G26 baby Glock. Yeah, its bigger, but I'd rather have a gun that runs 100%. 9mm is a much stronger round than the .380 anyway.

thanks fer crushing my dreams, brother....

I don't use it for carry much, mostly just something to plink with.

thanks for the advice, i will just leave it alone...

Hey Gerald...you carry with a crossbreed supertuck right?...do you think a supertuck would conceal and not print my XD9 subcompact?...I have all the supplies, was thinking of making me one like their design

The Crossbreed Supertuck design is awesome. Not only does it make my warm weather carry G26 disappear, it hides my 5" 1911 just about as well with an untucked t-shirt. Your XD9 subcompact is just barely larger than a G26 and won't be a problem at all. Go for it.

I appreciate it man. I think this weekend I'm gonna put together one and see how it feels. Thanks again
