I was on my way back from my company's R&D facility on Deming way in Jedburg that day there were a ton of cops on 78 and on that road he trurned down where he finally hit that truck (just passed the school toward Norton and Richardsons) I was wondering why they had the road blocked and there were a shit ton of cops out and in the school parking lot I must have just missed it by minuites, thanks for the vid.

Lmao - float like a butterfly sting like a bee in the beginning. He should have tased him or took out the baton... Ok it does look like he tased him...

The cop would have been perfectly in line to shoot that uncooperative low life as soon as he forcefully took control of the patrol car. Deadly force is authorized if needed in the course of stopping a felony. Who knows how many lives could have been ruined by the reckless getaway of this animal. I hope the guy turning left in the truck that got hit was alright. It would have been better to euthanize that animal when he got in the patrol car.
Anyway, how did the suspect avoid getting tazered and get away from the cop considering the extra help that arrived?

The cop tried to taze him and he missed, guess the dude was bobbing and weaving like mike!
edit: sucks most police stations do not have it in their budget to get onstar style computers on, in case this happens, disable the car instantly.

Wrong. Deadly force is NOT authorized to stop a felony. Maybe you aren't properly conveying what you are trying to say.
He did tase him, several times.
The guys that were hit are okay, thankfully.

He didn't miss. It was a bad connection. Plus the dude was high on crack. That makes all the difference in the world.

Looks like he dropped the tazer when the dude went to throw a punch. He then picked it up and shocked the dude right before he drove off. He should have kept holding down the button. Do you guys not have baton's anymore?

Holding down the button does no good when there is no contact. Hence, the guy pulling out the probes. From there, you would have to actually touch him with the actual taser. That might have been too close for comfort in this situation. We carry ASP's. They are retractable "batons."

I'm sure the officer could have used deadly force the moment the crack head got into the cruiser. At that point the car becomes a weapon IMO.

I intended to convey the idea of a "violent" felony. My mistake in not adding that particular description in my previous post.
The obvious intent of the scumbag to duke it out with the cop to start with labels this encounter as turning violent. Then once the cruiser was taken control of, the cruiser became a weapon at that point. That crackhead for sure would have driven over the cop if the cop happened to be in front of the cruiser when he got behind the wheel.

And in there lies your answer. The car wasn't point at or even attempted to run the officer over. Hence not a weapon.

I would think that being a cop the only thing worse than having a bad guy take your patrol car from you would be to have them get ahold of your gun and handcuff you with your own handcuffs. I would have shot him in the face. Its the principle of the thing.

I was on vacation and missed this last week. I recognize that officer but can't remember his name right now. He's a good guy. Hopefully no one got hurt but the perp. That could have been a disaster since it looked pretty busy on 78 that time of the day.
