When i build mine it will have to be at least 40 foot deep. the boat trailer is a lil over 30 foot with the outrdrive and the tongue. And my enclosed trailer is 28 foot plus the longer tongue for a camper. We are putting up the 30x30 we bought from marcus now.

Day two progress.Aslo got it treated for termites today. Two concrete trucks coming in the morning....

Why didnt they pour the slab first? My parents have a 40x60 garage and they poured slab then built on top of it.

I think all pole buildings are done in the way they are doing Ashley's. my neighbor has a Hoover building they built the whole thing then poured.

If it was steel they would have poured first. Pole barns usually dont.

Yeah,thats right.Pole buildings are done this way. A metal building is a whole different story..They require footings all the way around and require 3 times as much concrete...

yeah, guy at work swears by doing pole barns & cutting cost by 2/3's because the dirt around the pole holds the building up, not the concrete bolted to the posts, so the concrete can be much less costlier.



totally unrelated thread drift: uncle builds house on hill, with massive dirt basement, use for storage. short on one end, huge on other end.

towards end, uses it as workshop in winter, due house ducting giving some heat. about 7 feet of space one big end, so works good.

next owner moves in, has concrete poured in the floor, wall to wall.
moves out.

next owner moves in, concrete dries, cures, and expands...and pushes the whole house apart, after house has been standing ~7 years
doors wont shut, won't open, walls cracking inside & brick walls outside cracking.

concrete expansion is some strong stuff

Since they are pouring the concrete later, and obviously don't plan on turning the slab down on edge, I would ask what they are going to do to guarantee you don't have washout.

if possible, do you think you could post up some pics of how the walls meet the concrete? thats one area i was curious about.

Im not sure what washout is,but i has 2100 dollars worth of pad built for it to sit on.And i will get a better pic of the concrete at the walls..Its has a 2x8 bottom band board that is the concrete form...But they said they will be done tomo...

Guess I never seen one built before. Not to common around here. It looks very nice though. Are you airconditioning it, guessing no with all the doors.
