If you buy a performance car and are scared to break it, you should just buy a Prius with an extended warranty and save yourself a ton of cash.

I agree with a good amount of what you said...however,

1. Yes it can, thats why I prefer to wait and let a new car prove its reliability, and thats exactly what the warranty is for.

2. I worked at Palmetto Ford...I know who the good techs are, and the not so good, so I'm covered on who I can trust

3. I've learned quite a bit over the years, and I havent needed anybody to repair anything for me..I've had help from friends...but except for getting and ABS and Airbag code read...I try to do it myself, but there is a point where im S.O.L., like an engine/tranny build

4. Prius are no fun, a Fusion bored the crap out of me once the cobra was gone...so thats a no go :)

I still would race it. Do the mods that won't void the warranty and go from there. IF the transmission lets go, Let warranty take care of it.

But, IMO, if you can't drive worth a crap or just have a shit transmission in general than expect it to break. Especially if you have more power being pushed through it than it is intended for.

I'm not saying I wouldnt race it, if I recall, all this is b/c someone said s197's dont race, in which I replied, there are plenty that do, enough to make an event out of, and you would be hard pressed to find to many people willing to void their warranty on their $30k car. I know for a fact I'll void mine, I can kiss the suspension portion of my warranty goodbye already. Im waiting another 5-10k miles before I start doing things that void my drivetrain warranty.
