The Bob Cat equipped 421 tri power 1964 GTO ran 11.89 @ 123.28 mph factory as tested from road and track, there were just over 2100 of those cars built and ordered with a 421 most were wrecked either playing on streets or tracks over the years. Road and track also tested its 0-60 at 4.6 seconds the same as the 05-06 GTO. That MPH with current suspension/tire technology would make it a factory 10 sec ride today. Sad it wont be seen today as anyone who has one of these cars wont risk destroying the only machines that will make more money than some of the rare mopars. The people from the PHS to my dad he was crazy when they asked what he was doing with the car and he told them he was going to drive it. This was possible in 1964 due to a close ratio M-21, 3.90 posi BOP 12 bolt, and the tri power equipped 421 rated at 425HP from the factory. Recent engine testing on new age dyno had it making 485 HP and 520 FT LBS in stock form this testing was done @ Jim Butler racing inc. Not all GTO's were created equal. Most companies re-badged there cars SS, or BOSS. Mach 1 ect Pontiac didn't do anything different to the exteriors so you never know what you were going to run into. I know my 60s muscle car history pretty well. http://www.abolition-ecpm.org/Pontia...ntiac+GTO.html |

that thing must be nasty. a car like that running 123mph in the 1/4 would need to be making a shit ton of power. would like to hear it running!
my dad has a couple of '67 442s. one has a ~410cid and the other a 468cid. both autos, both 3.08 gears...... not rocketships, but they run good. prob. somewhere in the 13's. |

Give the man a break. He probably would be as happy as a pig in slop to have a running race car these days.
And that isn't a slam on SBM. |
i hope he's at least driven a car with a spool, slicks, funnycar cage, tall cowl hood, low seating position, no power steering, and huge cam....
