you must of missed rule 5. I don't think ford ever put a ls1, ls2, lsx, etc... in a mustang. :poke:

HOE sNAP!

BAD BOB 01-21-2011 09:39 PM

In my opinion the top tire in Chris's post is only dot approved for certain street type classes. I think I have read somewhere that it says "not approved for highway use" on it somewhere. If it's not on there it should be.

That being said those are the tires I was talking about when I said even if it says dot approved doesn't make it a true street tire.

Matts94Z28 01-21-2011 10:59 PM

Hoosier QTP are the same way. They would be illegal.

AverageJoe 01-22-2011 09:54 AM

If thats the case, you should make this a street tire only race. Exclude all drag radials too (not counting the nitto 555r's because they suck). Auto cars are doing really well on et street radials (Wes), but they are a huge handicap for manuals.

LXtasy 01-22-2011 10:33 AM

Tiger paw tires ftw

Derek 01-22-2011 11:09 AM

Yeah its the middle tire in chris's post. Im sure we will iron everything out at d's. It doesn't matter where I go I just wanna have some fun.

Those are DOT approved and the same tire Ill be on. Mike also used to race on them.

those aren't aftermarket blocks :bigthumb: just a different vehicle company stock OEM block.

Why not limit some more.

* Must ran same fuel as the vehicle did when brand new?
* can not take off tailgate, bedcovers etc?
* Must have OEM shocks or stock replacements, no adjustables
* Must have a 6 disc cd changer and no aftermarket speakers
* Must have same size wheels/tires available on vehicle for that model year.
* Stock fuel tanks. NO CELLS

Does that sound retarded? I think it would go well with the other "rules" also.

You can count me out on racing any of the tdl crap. Not like we would do any good. Its just a bunch of stupid ass rules to pertain to certain people.

Or Ignore most of the BS posted in the rules and add this IMPORTANT ONE. MUST PASS TECH for times and speed the vehicle runs

red99pony 01-22-2011 12:51 PM

mike i will be running the mustang thanks

blubyu87gt 01-22-2011 01:32 PM

Does something like this count for the A/C rule?

http://i883.photobucket.com/albums/a...nditioning.jpg

Yeah I am not about to go through the hastle/cost of putting the AC back in the GT and there is no way I will even consider hacking up my 85 notch that came from factory with no options (ac included and back seat are included in the list of stuff left out from factory) to run that...

LXtasy: You forgot to add power windows, power locks, and traction control to your list. Those are pretty standard in "street cars" today so they should be added :)

bwelch 01-22-2011 01:49 PM

What if your car doesn't come with a factory spare? Does that count as weight reduction? Also my tires have nitrogen in them which makes them lighter. Is that a problem? I also run synthetic oil instead of regular oil that it calls for. Will that fit in the rules? What if I'm running a 275 instead of the factory 245 tire?

Mike 01-22-2011 05:10 PM

Sounds like the class Ray came up with doesn't sound so bad now. Pretty much the only rule was that you drive to the track from your house. The class will be on the honor system, and self policed like Drag Week.

Rules updated.

BigdaddyDupree 01-22-2011 06:50 PM

Everybody is bitching about rules and really making this whole thing blow. Racing is a hobby for all of us why can't we just go out n race n have a good time at the track. A day at the track isnt a cheap day out. I.at least spend 150 when I go by time I get diesel. Gas up the s10 admission etc. If everyones gonna bitch about rules why waste the money? I liked buckners idea about one saturday a month we just go racing....sorry harry please don't be angry I said his name

blubyu87gt 01-22-2011 07:48 PM

Well said man. I think thats where a lot of the bitching (most seems more like poking fun though.) comes from. Just show up and race for fun.... Not have to go through all these hoops just for a day out...

did u play with the air pressure ? and get them hot ?

BAD BOB 01-22-2011 10:52 PM

ive cut 1.31 60s foot brake in my 3k car

Mike 01-22-2011 10:58 PM

I have been 1.4x in a 5k lb truck with MT drag radials.

I have also owned a bad pair of MT DR's and couldn't get better than a 1.7x with the same truck. The tires were left outside during the summer, and had pretty much lost all softness to them.

chrisheltra 01-22-2011 11:42 PM

This is the 10.0 index rules at Cecil Dragway. Why dont we use them as a guideline and change as necessary?

1. .500 Pro Tree
2. Full Bodied street cars only (no open bodied cars allowed)
3. Finished interiors.
4. Lexan windows permitted.
5. Minimum weight 2800 lbs
6. Mufflers mandatory on ALL cars.
7. DOT tires only, max size 30 x 13.5 (any size drag radial accepted)
8. Gasoline Only (no alcohol)
9.No wheelie bars.
10. No Full square or round tube chassis
11. Back half cars permitted
12. Tubs allowed
13. Pneumatic or electric throttle stops prohibited
14. Delay devices prohibited (2 steps and Tran brakes are permitted)
15. Any type power adder permitted

There was some shit in there about NHRA safety equipment rules but we all know that doesn't apply to us so I left them off.
