Just my $.02. No slicks at all but On that track it's hard enough to hook with e.t streets, can't run a radial on anything over 400 and make any traction. I can't hook up with awd and 400. So tags, 2 seats and I say a radio maybe but ac is iffy. If somebody has got a daily it's gonna have a radio. Ac, I got it but never run it.

Honestly paul your 66 is an exception theres very few cars on this site that didnt come with ac. I believe your 66 is a street car ive seen you drive it around and drive it to jackson to race then drive it back.

i thank i will put gas on the towho just for this race . it s got it all a/c street tires lol

LXtasy 10-05-2011 11:28 AM

No ac rule is crap. That's my opinion. That's an expensive mod for us to do that would net nothing bjt a lighter wallet. We would lose what 5 hp? Can't run with ac on going down the track anyways.

chrisheltra 10-05-2011 11:29 AM

All I know is Dorchester will have to be prepped like a mofo or have nothing but two stroke fwd rice burners running who cant spin a tire if they tried.

I don't know if that's true, I took the ac and cc out of my built eclipse to clean up the engine bay and that was a true street car.

Because it eliminates vehicles built for a purpose. If it originally had ac and it doesnt anymore it was purposely built to be a race car wnd is not a daily driven vehicle. And just because you can suffer and drive it daily does not mean you do.
A/C tells if your lying or not.

Would you drive it in August at 2pm with the windows up for an hour with a winter jacket on?

I wouldnt. :)

That's a bit of a stretch lol, you wouldn't do that even if you had ac. Roll the windows down and I was good to go.

It was an import and it would get its doors taken off by some of these no ac street cars. Ac interior and tires should be all optional for imports because they need to take off all that stuff just to keep up.

Like this past weekend lol.

The street car/race car debate will never find an end. I did like Rob's special Olympics comparison :hysterical:

Honestly the tires thing stacks it up on the import side and the AC thing would keep the DD's honest.

The lightnings are out of it because of the street tire requirement, I believe I have the fastest time for a Lightning on regular street tires (non Drag radial) that I know of and it took 3 weeks of trying to get it and it was only a 7.80. I'm fairly certain Tooslow's evo runs in the 7 .teens on street tires with AC....

Ouch again lol. I'd be careful about making blanket statements though. Nobody likes eating some crow pie.

I think we need to have a $10 race. Everybody put up $10 , put your name in a bag, pull a name and negotiate a race.

Tire rule seems fair. Would be a nice spin fest that would be fun to watch. I guess my neighbors 89 crx without ac and powersteering is a race car. And it is factory. Ac rule is stupid. In our case it is costly to do ac, have to cut frame rails, relocate coilpacks and get custom lines all made. Or cut the hood as top mount ac compressor will stick out. Than there will be a must be a factory hood rule. If you guys aren't going to put street tires than don't race this event

chrisheltra 10-05-2011 12:52 PM

What if I have an A/C that doesnt work anymore? Do I still need a belt for it? Can I still race or should I get it fixed first?

Go to Lowe's, get an A/C inverter and a 89$ window unit and a drip pan. Lay it in the seat next to you. turn it on and watch the belt from the compressor to the fan move... Problem solved.
