Can someone briefly explain index racing to me? Need to know what class to run. figuring mid 8's is what my best would be.

Also, does the class racing include the test and tune runs or do you have to pay twice?

You pay once to get your body in($10) then once to run your car in a test and tune fashion($5), then if you want to enter an index race then you pay that entry fee.

Index racing is where you try and run as close to the index (6.0,7.0,ect) without going faster than the index(breaking out)

The entry fee for the index races is mainly to build a payout to the racer who wins or however far back they plan on paying.

Index racing is a little tough for someone who's car doesn't run close to the index already or doesn't have a power adder to adjust to make the car run close to the index. Some will run a class slower than there car and just pedal the car in some way to edge out the other racer but hope not to break out

So if you were in the 8.0 class, you would be trying to get as close to 8.0 as possible, correct? I've never done index racing either.

Get as close to the indexed time, without breaking out, and cut a better light than your opponent in case you both run dead on your index. The number one rule in index racing is to get out in front, and know how to actually slow down just enough to stay in front of your opponent to not risking breaking out (running too fast). Its actually usually some pretty good heads up racing!
