My gto got better mpg when the coolant temp was higher.

RoadconeTuning 03-25-2014 03:08 PM

sounds like you need some direct exhaust injection.

crumbie 03-25-2014 03:26 PM

and that's with all the bad gas in the upstate.

DIGGLER 03-25-2014 06:42 PM

redid my pics... not sure they were working correctly?

no time slip because shadyside.... but 8.29@88, russ watched it happen. first pass that he didnt see was 8.24@89.2 i believe. no slip either :-/... air was 2000ft better than it was on thursday and i learned how to launch the car. Greers timeslip showed 8.7@85mph... effin miserable but in 2700ft DA and a 2.22 60-ft because it damn near cut off.

after leaving the track... hendo went 7.80s on motor and 7.ooohhhhhhhhs on a 100shot.
http://distilleryimage6.ak.instagram...c954a086_8.jpg

also, its not sketchy driving 60 miles on the highway on et drags...

GreebeanZ28 04-07-2014 09:29 AM

My fucking camaro is slow. 8.31/88ish Mph on a bog so bad i about hit my face on the steering wheel. Once again no time slip. Did run 8.41 missing 3rd on my last try. Oh well.

Smoked Cones ass head to head in a pedal fest that would have made John Force smile lol

5th gens need more gear would be an understatement.

RoadconeTuning 04-07-2014 09:49 AM

lol sitting at 5k in 1st gear from the tree to 80-100ft out was hilarious. I think they un-prepped the track between our first pass and second.

GXP's need moar gear too...
2.97 1st and a 3.7 rear is not enough... apprently yukon makes a 4.11 but thats the most i can get for anything and thats for a 2010+camaro rear.

We would have been a good race with the truck! Must have done a few mods (like HIDs) since we last talked about setting one up, since then you were high 8s..

What's done to it? That doesn't sound that bad for a poop 5th gen. lol

RoadconeTuning 04-07-2014 11:14 AM

it went 8.7@86 at Ware Shoals with:
1 3/4"x3" slp headers w/ cats
rotofab intake
tune
stock forged 19x8s with 245/40R19 Michelin Primacy touring tires.

now the car has
1 3/4"x3" slp headers with gutted cats
secondary cats/midmuffler/h-pipe replaced with magnaflow 2.25" x-pipe
obx-r axleback
VCM OTR intake
powerbond 25% UDP
SLP 160* tstat
ngk TR6 plugs
Taylor 10.4mm wires
Katech LS9R twin disk
20x8/20x9 camaro wheels with nitto 555's 245/35R20 and 275/30R20

The main thing was launching the car and actually shifting it lol

crumbie 04-07-2014 11:22 AM

^ you mean ware shoals?

RoadconeTuning 04-07-2014 12:58 PM

yeah, too many shit hole tracks to keep up with... fixing...

crumbie 04-07-2014 01:01 PM

you pick up 3 mph automatically by running at shadyside. so you need a tune! LOL

zz4 crate motor with the stock tpi stuff put on it.
custom turbo setup with 66mm precision
a/c and everything else the car came with
7004r trans
9 bolt rear

car made 530/550 a few days later.

BIRDMAN 04-07-2014 10:40 PM

Tackling one of the many issues the car came with...right side HVAC door blender failure. Of course it was the passenger side that requires taking apart the whole dash. lol

Not really, for turbos on a unloaded DynoJet. Looks like large turbo or large turbine A/R.

yea, a/r is a little big for a motor thats done by 5100.
his converter is as tight as they could get it and retain lockup. if he keeps this car, he will be switching to a 4l80. i keep telling him to swap intakes, since that would move the peak out another 1k rpms and probably pick up another 100hp, but he wants to stick with the tpi. i still think thats cool, too.
he keeps breaking stuff on the car, and having fueling issues. been bugging him for about 2 years. so he went out and bought a 13 gtr. lol

TPIS Mini Ram would set it off right.

What is he using for engine management?

megasquirt. been having troubles with fuel system keeping up above 16psi. goes leeean. its a stock fuel system with a 255 pump now, but has had a 340 pump. the heads were removed due to blown cometic recently. couple of the cylinders were hammered and had to be resurfaced a good bit to make them flat again. looked like someone dropped a bowling ball on each of the combustion chambers.
a superram/miniram, nice set of heads, 4l80, and 12 bolt would be awesome on this thing. when he was upset with it, i tried to buy it from him but he wanted a good bit for it.

That pump is only good to 70 PSI and flow drops dramatically as the pressure rises. If he has enough injector, he could try to lower the base pressure to 40 psi and see if that gives it some help. He's likely in the 60's psi with 16 lbs and that can stress a 255.

I love old TPI stuff. I could talk it all day.

RoadconeTuning 04-08-2014 12:36 PM

just figured a 66 would spool decently quick is all. the kit i wanted for ricestang had a single 61 and people thought it was too small.
