What jack would you buy
 

I am in the market for a new floor jack and was curious of what you guys would recommend? I am not looking to spend a fortune, but I plan on using this a lot in the next couple of years so I'm not trying to cheap out either. Thanks in advance for any inputs.

I got this set for Christmas. The 3ton works great on my heavy truck.

Thats the same one Randy has. It a good solid jack the only two things I dont care for is its really heavy (not an issue if you dont take it anywhere) and it takes a lot of pumps to get it to height. One things for sure though it will lift damn near anything you put under it.

I have 2 of the 2 ton versions. So far so good.

I need one as well. Problem is the car is pretty low so I need a low profile one. Tired of driving on 2x4's to get it high enough to get the jack under.

Yup. Those Harbor Freight jacks are great.

Don't buy craftsman aluminum jack, on 3rd one but out of warranty now.

I've had mine since probably 2006 and used it for not only about 35+ autox's, jacking the car up twice an event to swap street tires/R-comps, but a couple of times a month in the garage for several years. This little beast is still going strong.

Initially, I had reservations about buying a jack that was built in China/Taiwan, but it seems like every damn thing made out of metal is from that region now. I recommend it highly, it's been that damn good.

This is true. I use one of the A/C delco aluminum jacks. It's held my car up for months just fine.

Napa has nice heavy duty jacks. I havnt had any issues with my steel craftsman other than its about 70lbs. Ive also used the harbor freight aluminum jacks with good luck. A friend has a matco but youre paying for the name. That being said my next jack will be a 2 or 3ton aluminum Torin from northern tool so i can use it for the car and truck.

i have had a nice lightweight aluminum low profile i bought from northern tool for a few years and it works great. i used to have to drive my car on blocks to lift it also got tired of that quick. jack works great no problems and strong. if you have to carry it or pick it up often you would be happy with an aluminum one if not really doesn't matter.

I have 2 of the 2 ton harbor freight jack and they both work great. They are pretty low too. Been going on 3ish years without issues besides the rubber pad coming off both which is probably my fault anyways... If you catch them at the right time they ussually go on sale for like 99.99 for the 2 ton, or 79.99 for the 1.5s.
