WTB: Non-roller boat trailer

Anyone have a lead on a bunk style boat trailer for a 17ft boat? My current trailer doesn't allow the boat to be far enough forward and causes it to tow like crap with the weight of the motor being so far behind the axle.

I am very limited on adjustment with it as well. Not to mention I don't like the roller style anyhow.

Let me know.

GreebeanZ28 08-06-2012 01:50 PM

Just back the boat on the trailer.

LMAO. I guess I could stack some tires on Zac's car trailer and use that.

Guess I should call this guy and take a look. I could probably scrap my current trailer make up some of the cost.

We could cut the spring perches off and weld them further back on the trailer? Also there is a good selection at the boat ramp any given sunday.... I kid.

chrisheltra 08-06-2012 01:57 PM

Cant you just adjust the axle position?

LOL! That could work. I would also like to install bunks if I were to do that. I will take a look at the one I found on CL later this week and discuss some options with you at lunch Friday.

Nope. Not far enough.

GreebeanZ28 08-06-2012 02:01 PM

Just trade the guy his boat back. Lol.

chrisheltra 08-06-2012 02:01 PM

Isnt a non-rolling boat trailer just called metal?

Matts94Z28 08-06-2012 02:01 PM

The rollers are not adjustable and you can see the boat is right at the end of them. The car with the rollers is not forward adjustable either. This picture doesn't really show how far behind the motor is, but it tows like shit.

If you do put bunks on it (which is super easy to do), use these.

You'll never have to deal with them again. :bigthumb:

just strap 200 lbs to the front of the trailer. or try dropping the hitch lower

MonteC 08-06-2012 07:01 PM

or get a real truck.

I have one for sell!

Matts94Z28 08-06-2012 07:05 PM

I have a huge drop on it already. No sense in adding weight either. I can pick up the front of the trailer with two fingers.

Shut up Rob. Don't pick on me because your friends with Joe!

Get off the computer and go to the nursery. You've got dirty diapers to change.

Do it now bitch

PapaBear 08-06-2012 08:05 PM

Would moving the winch stand forward not work? Can't really see the pics too well to see the setup of the rollers.

Nope. The pad is on the edge of the last roller and the rollers are non adjustable.

GreebeanZ28 08-06-2012 08:29 PM

Lower the truck!

That's still not going to help with the upward force on the ball...

GreebeanZ28 08-06-2012 08:36 PM

Yep you're right. Time to give the guy his boat back. LOL!

Matts94Z28 08-06-2012 08:37 PM

Lmfao. Gtfo!

Whaler 08-06-2012 08:44 PM

Now you're calling me old? I have an empty nest at home this week and was going to offer to help fix your trailer problems, but Crazy D's is calling my name tomorrow. I can't even get ShawnBooby to return my calls. Ya'll must hate old(er) people. I'll just make another drink. :cheers

Let's just say seasoned! I will be on break around 10, but don't want to disturb you.

Shawnboy is a hard guy to get a hold of. I had to use messenger pigeons and horseback to contact him once.

ShawnBoyMoody 08-06-2012 08:50 PM

Sorry Larry. Im a Sweet Old Bob. I'll give you a shout.
