BAD ASS, ive seen some very nice scout boats on the water recently.

chrisheltra 09-21-2012 10:14 AM

In for the boats and hoes.

snakeplissken 09-21-2012 10:24 AM

Outstanding!

REDRAGTOPRS 09-21-2012 10:43 AM

Scout boats are nice boats, but are waaaaaaaaay overpriced. I love my 2006 Sea Hunt 186 Triton. A comparable Scout cost 1 1/2-2 times as much, and my boat is built in Columbia.........For something that's going to see fish blood, dirt, fish tackle, saltwater, and the UV rays of the sun, I honestly don't know why someone would buy a scout. If I was gonna pay that kinda money, It would be for a pioneer.........Congrats on ya'lls award aswell. Does that mean some sweet bonuses?

BigdaddyDupree 09-21-2012 10:44 AM

Way to be a doucher lol.

04ctd 09-21-2012 10:51 AM

good deal

are they on 78, going out north out of S'ville?

what brand is built over on 52, tween MC & GC?
that place used to be full, pretty low lately.

Whaler 09-21-2012 11:04 AM

Thanks Redragtop. Great reply. There are many differences in the two boats, and many people choose to buy a nicer, more fuel efficient, better built and designed boat that will be worth more at any given moment. To each his own. All cars have 4 wheels. Some are better than others. Same rule applies here.

Thank you to everyone else. I have been asked to handle our Facebook page. This is new with me, as I don't post a lot on there, so please "Like" Sea Ray of Charleston on FB and if you can, help me with any feedback that you think would help make it better.

I appreciate the support.

BigdaddyDupree 09-21-2012 11:13 AM

There's one of those coming out of production any day. It was supposed to be done earlier this week for the Scout In Water Expo on Saturday, but didn't quite finish in time. You have good taste. :bigthumb:

Good taste, broke as a joke. I'll look at it at the boat show. That's as close to getting one as I will come.

Harry 09-21-2012 12:28 PM

God forbid people having opinions. I not a boat owner but they seem to have nice boats.

REDRAGTOPRS 09-21-2012 12:35 PM

Apparently, some people on here had trouble with reading comprehension in school. If you go back and re-read my post, I never said anything negative about scout boats. They are nice boats, just not worth the money IMO. 80-90% of their boats are aimed at fishermen, and as a fishing boat, there are plenty of far cheaper options, that will do as good of a job at getting to the fishing hole......Now ya'll pull your panties out of your manginas' and carry on......:cheers

Exactly. Larry is one of the nicest guys on here and will bend over backwards to help anyone.

Dropping a deuce in his thread was asinine.

Ryan. Telling someone that you think what they have is not worth what they go for is something negative.

Respect GTO's and LT1's damnit! Oh, congrats on the boat stuff. Lol.

REDRAGTOPRS 09-21-2012 01:19 PM

I have met whaler, and he is a super nice guy. Not trying to trash anybody's business, just state an opinion about a brand of boat, not a perticular boat dealer, person, or anything else for that matter. We will have to agree to disagree on this....I stand where I stand on scout boats.....Apparently lots of people feel they are worth every penny, because I see lots of them on the water....

You have no idea, because Scout's target market is far from 80-90% fisherman. I sell far more for family use than for just fishing. They build a great mixed use product. As far as cheaper options, you should've bought a Carolina Skiff and saved yourself some money. If you think Scout is too expensive, then Boston Whaler and Grady White must be stupid to even think they can sell boats at their prices and stay in business.

Not trying to trash ..., just state an opinion about a brand . ...

IIRC, rumor has it he used to teach Sunday School??

everybody deserves the right to brag on what they do/where they work/who they are, at some point in time.

if they are getting awards in this economy, then ROCK ON!!

The engines alone are probably worth $60-75K.

So if we apply your logic to pony cars you should have bought a fox body mustang instead of a 4th gen F-body.

Good taste Snake. I rode on one of those in 4' waves, sitting in the bow. That boat has an air conditioned cabin in the middle of the boat.

Thanks for the compliment. Didn't mean it as bragging, but was surprised that we beat out the South Florida dealers.

I grew up around Boston Whalers. My parents have owned several of them, and still own a 1991 15' sport model, which is one of the best boats ever made. My ex-father in law had a grady white, which he loved. Boston Whaler's were pioneers in the 70's and 80's when they would cut their boats into pieces with chainsaws, fill them full of people and water, etc, and they would still float. I would pay for that, as I have never seen another boat manufacturer (including grady white) make an unsinkable claim that they could back up. Grady White's have an extremely deep V, so they burn more gas, can't get in shallow water, take longer to plane, etc, but you won't find a better/drier ride. I have been 60 miles out in the gulf stream on a 19' tournament Grady White on a calm day chasing spadefish. I have also been out on several scouts that buddies own and love. We have these arguements all the time. As far as your Carolina Skiff comment, they make good crabbing boats, but that is about it. Flat bottom=crappy ride, enough said about that one.
