LSX swap...questions
so i am starting to entertain the idea of swapping an ls into my 99 gt since my mota is fawked. and i know there are alot of guys on here that have done the swaps in fox's and what not and im just wondering what all i am going to need? will i need to have a custom harness made to use my factory gauges? what transmission should i use?
Want fit
you can buy a standalone harness for like 500 and that will run the motor and trans (if needed). the only way to use your factory gauges for like oil pressure and water temp is to make you factory sensors fit in the LS motor. the easiest way to do the swap is to get a kmember or swap mounts for the swap into you car. and you will need a set of headers for the swap too.

im sure your factory tach wont work off the GM tach signal, and the speedo as well
I believe dad has a tach signal inverter piece that he is not using that you can exchange some money for. I say go for it. I have entertained the idea of a mustang in your bodystyle and doing the swap.
i figure either ls with ported heads and a cam or build the 2v back and turbo it.
Ls, cam, and turbo. DONE!
I believe the LS will bolt to the 2 valve K-member with a little egging of the bolt holes....
and as far as the trans goes?
Not sure on a newer car except that I know AJE makes everything you need to do the swap. Im rear is probably gonna have to be custom made or come from AJE.
You need to get that 5.3 on CL.
what happened to the forged shortblock you had waiting to go in?
i found a ls1 with trans in bluffton for $1000

however...my father bein a ford tech for 20 years...may disown me for putting a gm motor in a mustang lol |
Find a 4v Navi motor in the junkyard....... Everything will bolt up

If I remember correctly the (I am sure several people on here will know) but most the 03 C-heads had like 4 threads for the spark plugs and the driver side head had a recall (blue stripe on the head meant it was serviced?) For cooling issues. So if you plan to run boost and dont want to blow out your plugs its something to check / fix before they go in. |
he said they are the ones that have the 8 thread
Might not be a bad deal then. If it has everything to swap. Otherwise I would go with the Randy route. 5.4 that fugger and roll put. Might even be cheaper then the 1800 if you go the junk yard route.

Same boat. Everyone does it shits old. The problem not going fast with ford stuff is user error not the platform. SBFTTFMF

everyone does fox swaps. i have seen very few people do it with a sn95 frame. and i never said can tgo fast with ford stuff, you can go fast cheaper with a gm motor.

i'd pay more for an lsx swapped new edge with a tubular k than one with a stock k and a 2-valve anyday of the week, and twice on sundays
