3.73 to 4.10

Just in case anyone cared about cruise speeds and RPMs, I changed from 3.73's to 4.10's. The "RPM per speed" change was....

3.73 gear
70 MPH/2400
80 MPH/2750ish

4.10 gear
70 MPH/dead on 2500
80 MPH/dead on 3000

This was using a DiabloSport Predator on both applications.
BTW, 4.10's FTW!

slowgreen99 06-29-2008 12:41 PM

O yeah, this is on my '99 GT with a T45 tranny

wade w 06-29-2008 05:42 PM

Iwanna know if it helped. I'm betting it didnt.

LXtasy 06-29-2008 08:38 PM

OH yea. 4.10's now we are talking.

crumbie 06-29-2008 09:24 PM

4.10s or nothing in a mod motor

SlowBlk4dr 06-29-2008 11:51 PM

Going from 3.55's to 4.10's in RoadPig made alot of difference...shoulda been built that way ... 55 mph is 2000 rpm on a modular 4.6L 32 valve ... Junior ... give a SOTP input from your drive of it because I am too use to it now ...

:gg:

Please explain your point in responding to my post

Mike 06-30-2008 12:35 AM

uhmmm...... he thinks your car is slow, and you made it slower by swapping to 4.10's.

Don't worry Brandon, thats what we at bc2 racing do all the time...... make cars slower. hehehe

slowgreen99 06-30-2008 12:43 AM

yep, it got slower, thats for sure. Maybe one day ill have a lightning and a chevelle or whatever it is. I dont think I did too bad to run a procharged gt, me on motor, from a roll for fun and stay out front

Big f-ing difference in that land yacht. Wakes it up. I remember when my dad went from 3.27-4.10 WOW. Fox woke up a tiny bit from 2.73 - 3.55

Sorry if that came out wrong. Just wondering. Was thinking about 5.0 when I put that up. I knew some guys that have done that with a 5.0 car and it didnt help it. Forget about the 4.6 being more top end happy.

Really? I know of a 92 Stang that went from 3:73's to 4:10's and picked up 3-4 tenths, no other changes made. Then went from 4:10's to 4:30's and picked up nothing.

So far on the street my car is now like night and day. I love the 4.10, just not the RPM sacrifice, but itll be ok. Im hopin I can break into the mid 8's now! :hide:

LOL. your post is completely wrong. only 4.6 that's more "top end" happy than a 5.0L car is a 4 valve motor.

throw sticky tires on a 3.73 car vs. a 4.10 car and 4.10 car wins every time.

hey hey! dont say that! It wouldnt be the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, hell I lost count. But ill just fix it, money pending, and be back at the same shit! Hence, numero cinco t45 rebuild! haha

crumbie 07-01-2008 06:16 PM

has that thing spit a spark plug yet? keep an eye on them. the earlier model pi 4.6 engines don't have a lot of plug threads and they will tend to spit a plug and ruin the plug threads - making you have to pull the heads and helicoil them or buy some later model romeo heads with more threads.

Not saying it wont happen, but it has 122000 miles, 50000 of em were driven by me, and if you know me, then you would wonder how the fuck its still together. Not to mention I shoot a 10 lb bottle just about every week! lol
