Good run. It looked like it pulled the left tire, if it didn't it was close.

it did, the 4 cars right behind all told me about it before i saw the video.

WWhittle 08-19-2008 10:33 PM

i probably shouldn't have cracked on the wheelie bars without atleast telling you good kill, so.......

GOOD KILL!!

WWhittle 08-19-2008 10:35 PM

And by the way- get your car to sit lower in the back and it will work even better. The rake on your car is probably causing it to unload after the initial weight transfer. Then you might need those sissy bars.

yeah, i plan on getting the spohn rear coil over setup but i'm not sure how clearance will be since i never really looked at it with the plan of lowering the rear. i'll probably raise the front for now.

do you think if i raise the front another inch it will help?

WWhittle 08-20-2008 09:03 AM

it might-
if your front struts aren't close to all the way tight now, tighten them up, it will help the rebound. Same with the back. You will know you are too tight in the back if the car starts getting bouncy when you are driving around.

the rear are almost fully tight, the front are fully loose. so i should tighten the front to about 2-3 clicks?

not sure, it's a friend but he is pretty secretive about the setup. it's nothing crazy though, my shits slow from a roll.

i run mine halfway in the back and 3 clicks from all the way tight in the front. If i am at a hard hooking track, i tighten the front all the way.
All my stuff is QA1, i think you said you had the same.

dkbmxer002 08-20-2008 10:36 PM

yup, single adj with qa1 springs up front, stock springs in rear, i forget the pinion angle but i think -1.5 or -2 i'll check though... front is much higher than in the pictures of the car.

i'll try tightening the fronts up and check the rears and do a few launches in the street. thanks! i really want to get the suspension dialed in because i know it needs work.

loosening the struts up all the way is a common mistake- It makes the car come up real fast and appear that it is doing a great job of transferring weight, but everybody forgets that on a single adjustable it comes back down just as fast (rebound).
I would tighten the front struts up to halfway and launch the car. Keep tightening them one click at a time until you blow the tires off.
Watch the video of my car from behind. The car squats and never comes back up- stays planted all the way down the track. The scale weights are different between my car and yours because i have an aluminum block or i would just give you all my exact settings.

WWhittle 08-20-2008 10:47 PM

watch the video of your car- it transfers the weight really good and then it comes back down and the front end gets bouncy- thats a dead giveaway that you are WAY to loose.

you might want to check your tune too- you shot a flame out of the exhaust in between shifts

dkbmxer002 08-20-2008 10:50 PM

yeah the tune is still pretty much stock, it is insanely rich. but i am an aluminum block, but my car is much heavier then your car i'm sure. thanks! i'm going to try that out and see where it's sweet spot is.

My car weighs 3500 with me in it and scales 50/50.
If you ever come back to Dorchester we could probably dial that thing in after 2-3 passes.

Yeah like Wes said, tighten up the front. I have mine set almost exactly like he has his. If I set mine like you have yours it would tear the bumper off, lol. How are your control arms setup, do you have adjustable ones?

yup adj along with adj panhard rod, i still don't have a anti roll bar on the car though, haven't had the cash for one yet.
