Strange Engineering or QA1?

Out of the two, which would you guys pick? I plan on doing some 12 way single adjustables w/275lb springs.

Ballaholic29414 03-12-2010 01:29 PM

Qa1

QA1 if that's the only two choices.

chrisheltra 03-12-2010 01:46 PM

I have both.

QA1's in the front and Strange on the back.

Matts94Z28 03-12-2010 02:06 PM

I would like AFCO's but that's out of my price range. Now I need to choose between the R series and the F series

The R's are basically a 90/10 shock with stiff compression. So I can adjust the how fast the front end comes up and it wont come down too fast and cause me to blow the tires off. But the downside is that they aren't that great on the street, they would be VERY stiff regardless of the setting.

The Gen F's are are more of a 70/30 and the adjustment would affect both compression and extension equally. So they would ride better on the street, but wouldn't hold the nose of the car up as effectively.

I will say I am leaning towards the R's as of now, but I am having a hell of a time choosing.

Pesce Nero 03-12-2010 02:40 PM

for a straight up 90/10 shock you cant beat these in quality or price

if i was to choose between QA1 and Strange it would be Strange but like you said i also would love a set of AFCO's

Yep, I have Lakewood 90/10 on my car with QA1 single adjustables on the rear

blkscls1z 03-12-2010 04:02 PM

Strange fronts & Comp Eng. rears on my Camaro. Going with a rear strange shock for the TBSS soon. BTW QA1s are made in China and Strange stuff is made in the USA.

I have lakewood's front and rear. Because some people can't be trusted with many adjustments.

Strange. Afco if you've got the extra green.

what should i run front & rear on my nova with a BBC?

i have street monroes on front and on rear, some VERY old Comp Eng 3 way adjustables.

s/s, not a DD, but do want to drive it to shows & to church,
just enough street duty to show it off, don't matter if it rides like crap :)

??

gonna order the Calvert Trac Bars ($339)
so i asked calvert for a "package deal" today

wonder what they will say?

http://calvertracing.com/cart/ymm.ph...LET&model=NOVA

is $89 a pop a good price for rears?

WWhittle 03-12-2010 10:45 PM

The fastest stock suspension car on the planet runs QA1's. Hope that helps.

Matts94Z28 03-13-2010 02:12 PM

I can get the Strange drag front single adjustable shock pair with 275lb springs,
spanner wrench and torrington bearings for $479 to the door.

The QA1's "r" series minus the torrington bearing kit is $489 to the door.

This is tough.

1iron 03-13-2010 04:43 PM

275?

Matts94Z28 03-14-2010 04:56 AM

Yep, I had the option of 275, 300, and 315 pound spring rates. 275 is commonly used by f-body guys for drag racing applications, so I went with it.

Ordered the Strange set-up btw.

1iron 03-14-2010 09:10 PM

I have 175 but I think 150 is more common.

Matts94Z28 03-14-2010 09:15 PM

Wow! Hell it seems to work great for you though. :bigthumb:

That soft front end is nice with all the pot holes around here. Stock fuel lines = street car.

I'll be there with my 3700lb beast on a trailer. 78 miles each way is too far for me.
