Rear end way off...
The drivers side is with the wheel bolted directly to the axle.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l2...T/IMG_3713.jpg (I like where it sits, flush with the outside fender lip. Passenger side. This is with a spare set of lugnuts placed BETWEEN!~!~!~! the wheel and the axle and it still sits WAY in. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l2...T/IMG_3714.jpg How can I draw it over to the passenger side some. The car was wrecked prior to me owning it, and I had to put in a Wild Rides S box to repair the upper mounts. We measured many times and thought we had everything square.. obviously something is still off. What can I do? Panhard bar maybe? ? |
What do you have for axles?
|
Strange, C-clip elims, Cobra brakes. I know it has something to do with the car being wrecked / s box install not as square as we thought.
|
You have adjustable control arms?
|
Do doughnuts into a curb on the drivers side. Should move it over a bit!
I take it the whole rear end is off? Or do you think it's something with the axles and diff? I got a 2300-k kit a while ago that had a wrong length axle in it a while back. If you went that route... |
Just run a space on the passenger side. I know someone with their spring perches not welded on their 8.8 square and they had the same problem.
|
Also what upper bushings are in your housing? When I had busted stock bushings my rear wasnt square in the car either.

True story about the spring pearch and spacer. Not on my car but just how he solved the problem.
|
If its off by that much, what is causing it? Does the car track well going down the road? Any irregular tread wear? Pull to one side or the other when the brakes are applied or in neutral while coasting at speed?
Are the measurements correct for that make of vehicle? Flange, axle tubes.. http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...surements.html |
My guess is differet length axels. Only problem is if thats the caset the brake calipers and mounting brackets would be different or the rotor would eat into the bracket once tightined down. If the rear end wasnt square in the car and being off that much there would be different gaps front to back on each side also.

Something is way off if its a couple inches difference. Move it over with the upper control arms and see what you have.
|
Your upper arms and upper mount location control the side to side location of the axle housing.

If everything works out to be true as far as tracking and alignment stuff goes, get a pair of endtubes from Chassis Engineering and weld one onto the passenger side and get a longer axle to fit the length. That way it will move the wheel, brake caliper and all out to match the other side. I run their end tubes on all my stuff cause I hate "C" clip eliminators that leak, and they use a backing plate like a 9" rearend to hold the axle in.
