orangeburg

just curious if there is a site ban on orangeburg dragway? i did see a certain blue notch there tonight but never hear of anyone on here running there so i was curious.

Harry 07-29-2012 08:55 AM

Darryl was there for a points race.

ShawnBoyMoody 07-29-2012 11:03 AM

Too nice of a track for us lol.

schardbody 07-29-2012 01:50 PM

right i know it was a points race (thats why i was there) but it made me wonder why nobody ever runs out there, its like 10 minutes further than dorchester.

i was there with Ronnie Freitas who ended up putting a good friend out in the semi's and then taking the win at the tree in the finals in no box.

LXtasy 07-29-2012 01:53 PM

Most run at bowman or dorchester here. Supposedly orangeburgh is very strict on their rules

Darryl Buckner 07-29-2012 03:23 PM

Very nice track and really not strict on the rules. They just make sure the basics are there. Nova put me out and i bought back in. We are pretty even i think i have put him out as much as he has me.

Yep, Drive there, pay to get in, then cant run down the track because of something minor (No refunds). I just go to bowman. Cheaper admission also...
I understand safety comes 1st but It cost to much to get there just to find out. Best time to go is during a grudgefest because the tech guys wont spend alot of times on each car.

10 min? more like an hour

ShawnBoyMoody 07-29-2012 03:47 PM

This. Orangeburg is a ride!

Harry 07-29-2012 04:32 PM

Ya, definitely not ten minutes further.

schardbody 07-29-2012 04:36 PM

it takes me about 20 minutes to get to dorchester, maybe 15. last night we got to Orangeburg in about 40, so yeah i was exaggerating but its worth the drive in my opinion. i do live right off the jedburg exit so i'm sure i'm closer than most of you.

daryl you run box or no box?

1998ta__1991rs 07-29-2012 04:48 PM

you must not live close to town, it take me about 45 min to get to bowman from summerville, and orangeburg is about 20-30 min further than that

schardbody 07-29-2012 04:52 PM

zach i'm like 3 miles off the exit 194 (jedburg road). about a mile from brandon. i've never been to bowman.

Harry 07-29-2012 07:21 PM

Orandeburg is not bad on tech. They just have a tech inspection. Which hurts people who just want to throw something together and come to the track and screw it up for everybody else.

minytrker 07-29-2012 08:40 PM

If you think Orangburg is strict dont come to Texas and race. 99% of the tracks here have full NHRA tech. I got kicked off track for coasting through 1/4 at 9.97 at 100mph for my cage not being certified.

slowgreen99 07-29-2012 08:42 PM

Tech isn't bad. Just need the basics as stated. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it takes me about an hour to get there towing.

chrisheltra 07-29-2012 08:49 PM

Never been. I guess my thinking is if Im going to drive that far I might as well go to darlington.

how fast are you going? we were in a full size chevy with 37" tires and no speedo correction, so i have no clue how fast we were going. most of the time i looked over it was near 70 so its possible we were going pretty fast. google has it at 1hr 10minutes from my address and dorchester is right at 30 minutes so i guess yall are right, it is a good bit further.

slowgreen99 07-29-2012 09:43 PM

I usually go 75. It's right at 40-45 to bowman for me. 37s with no speedo correction is at least 10 off, probably close to 15

perm102 07-29-2012 09:50 PM

It may be about 10 minutes or so from bowman.
