Verizon to T-Mobile

Does anyone here know how to/ have unlocked their iPhone 4s so that the service transferred?

Verizon keeps giving me the run around. And I can't do it via you tube instructions!

Any help or pointing in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

VZW is cdma and tmobile is gsm. Afaik, you can't use phones from one network to another. Verizon has the best coverage in this area, you probably wouldn't be happy with tmobile.

Art,
Joe is 100% right on this issue. I have T-mobile, and their coverage sucks compared to verizon......

blubyu87gt 08-14-2012 10:53 AM

50% right. T-Mobile does suck but the VzDubya 4S does have a MicroSIM slot / card. After 60 days you can call and have it unlocked for international use. Honestly not sure about state side carrier unlocking. Though I am sure it is possible.

Thanks Joe. My cousin said she has brought iPhones over to tmobile from Verizon. She also gave us sim cards that work for our iPhones 4s.

Verizon might be better but it is 2.25x more expensive. Tmobile will cost 100/month whereas Verizon is 225/month and I don't get all the unlimited.

Anyone know how to unlock my iPhones?

schardbody 08-14-2012 10:18 PM

does everything on the iphone function the same on Tmobiles network?

94zson 08-14-2012 10:26 PM

That's what tmobile says

I'm actually planning on going from Tmobile to Verizion when the new Iphone 5 comes out in September. Tmobile's coverage is sketchy at best, but I can't use my phone at all in my new house. At my new house I have to be sitting on the front porch and holding my mouth just right to get a decent signal. Luckily my wife gets a 20 or 30% discount from Verizion for being a DOD civilian. I know their plans are more expensive, but I have a hard time paying my Tmobile bill, especially since I can't use half their service's. I have to use my house's wifi because I can only get an edge signal at my house. I know it seems like I live out in BFE but I'm having all these issues in Tanner Plantation (Hanahan).

Its only 15% discount and it doesn't go against your total bill only your service plan.

I can show you a copy of a bill if you like.

StoneColdSVT 08-15-2012 07:23 PM

Fuck Verizon. They screwed my wife out of 450 bucks saying she used over 32gb in one month but wouldn't tell her how she did it and my dumbass wife is still using them.

Me, Virgin Mobile $25 a month FTW.

blubyu87gt 08-15-2012 08:04 PM

Streaming porn will use up 32Gb quick! Lol really though man that sucks. She can request data session logs (they are the same as phone call logs) but they are normally in IP format and difficult to read. Any video streaming will add up quick. A 45 minute show on Netflix in a 4g area can use 5-700 mb on average.

This is all true.

Art do you work for Spawar as a government employee, because my wife called Verizon today & they said 20% off the bill? If they're lying to her before she's even a customer than we won't be going w/ them!

blubyu87gt 08-15-2012 09:02 PM

The first part is true. The not using phones from one network to another is not. In some cases. Normally it is a bitch (or flat out not possible) to get all services (sprint tv, vcast, multi media messages, specific network bands) to work though. In this specific situation (iPhone 4s) for a hardware standpoint. Its doable. Most Europe uses AWS spectrum. The verizon 4s is a world phone and can pick up said spectrum (its software locked to not do so stateside). Typically speaking it is pretty evolved and beyond most people's comfort zone to do it though. I am pretty sure you need some special sim card that unlocks it but I am not 100% on that. Back before Verizons big push into global and LTE they only used CDMA. Now with the adoption of LTE and the global market push it's possible and in a some cases fairly easy to get it done... Hell I've let some friends use my ReZound and Bionic on AT&t and T-mobile a couple times.

As with anything else though. Subject to change and individual results may vary. :bigthumb:

Mine is my government service(military) discount but it is only for my 700 minute plan. Not the total bill.

Anyone have Sprint? They carry the Iphone also but I'm curious if they're a decent company?

LXtasy 08-15-2012 11:17 PM

We pay $190 a month for 2 phones with unlimeted data, text, talk etc. I use about 6 gb of internet a month on my phone. Wife may use 5 mb on hers. That is with a 15% discount
