Friday @ Bowman..

Getting tired of running the same damn times with this turbo. New cam/Intake/TB same MPH and ET. More boost/nitrous, same ET/MPH. The turbine side of my turbo is only 67mm .96/AR & is killing this truck. I knew it was but still did all that work.

Badbob, either sell me that large frame PTE 80 or you will force me into a night of drinking and buying a BW S475, S480 and or lastly a S483. All the above will have a fatty turbine side /4" exhaust as i'm game on with spooling with nitrous.

Last Friday...

Call work turbo and go with the borg warner 83 or 87 mm SX3 option pretty sure they offer compressor sides all the way up to 88mm with ETT technology and racecovers. There already T4 so you wont have to change the flange would only have to run the larger 4 inch downpipe, also the 4.8 should light it off fine on the foot brake without nitrous and really light it off if you spray it. They cost about 1500 dollars but you can recover some of that by selling the 76mm.

Yeah I been eye'in the sx3/bullseye stuff. The nitrous seems line a "on" switch for spool, so i'm starting to feel better about going big on the exhaust side.

Lol, remember what happened the last time you drank too much and had access to the interwebz..."oh shit, apparently I bought a block last night."

RoadconeTuning 09-25-2012 09:06 AM

heck, it might pick up spool with a bigger exhaust side if its not choked off...

Bradleyrj 09-25-2012 09:15 AM

Anyone else notice how the truck rocked back and forth when the bov opened and closed? Thats awesome!

Drinking is my enabler. Like hooking up with a ugly chick because she has a good body. Or putting a bigger turbo on the same stock motor. Rarely is it a "good" idea.

A quote from Shawnboy

"Just because it's rare doesn't mean it's desirable, it's rare that I shit my pants and that damn sure aint desirable!"

Good-day chaps

BAD BOB 09-25-2012 08:54 PM

Rob, you going this Friday?

Foose04 09-25-2012 08:56 PM

I may go out and watch man, but the turbo is likely coming off tomorrow to make room for the a new setup. I'm all done with this one.

BAD BOB 09-25-2012 09:25 PM

I see. Sorry I haven't figured out what I'm going to do. Just been trying to get it back together. It may be a little before I decide to get rid of this one

Foose04 09-25-2012 09:41 PM

Not a problem man. I'm pretty set on what I want. Just trying to decide on turbine A/R and compressor size. Been going nuts the last few days reading up on the options.

I will need some help getting this welded in along with a new muffler. This is a direct fit so couldn'd pass it up.

4" DP for Borg Warner

S400SX4 80mm 96/88 with 1.32 housing specs on my little turbo from http://www.workturbochargers.com/

Foose04 09-25-2012 11:55 PM

That's def on the larger scale my friend. You can get away more with cubes and a 1000 pound lighter ride. I still need usuable power in the 3.5k-4.5k area.

LXtasy 09-25-2012 11:58 PM

I ordered our turbo from turbodaves.com

TurboWS6 09-26-2012 01:29 AM

SX3 is my vote they offer the turbines in the right size for that 4.8 or the 5.3 run the 83mm option and 1.25 A/R and that motor will scream, or run the 87mm with the 1.0 A/R and that will give you growing room for the 5.3 when this motor cant take anymore, then just swap to larger exhuast housing and be on your way. Another option is the PTE 76/75. From what I gather they cost the same as the bullseye units and will get you close to another 150 rwhp. IMO the bullseye units will get you further though and for some reason precisions turbos are getting a lot of bad rep lately its all over LS1tech and yellow bullet. I did some really extensive research on this 4 months ago when I pulled the trigger on the S480 on my car the same one Lorenz speced but I can get away with it due to my 6.0 displacement, it had an issue then got upgraded to S482 because the compressor housing needed to be machined.

We are the same sheet of music.

I'm going to call these guys tomorrow on this sexy mo'fo. It's rated at 1150HP or 115lb, nearly S480 flow but lighter then the standard 475. Should be a badass wheel.

It comes with the 1.10/83mm. Thats what I'm stuck on, it may work better on the 4.8L with that 1.10, then later I can swap to a 1.25 for the 5.3L. Or I can just go 1.25 from the start if they will sell it to me that way.

Tough call.
