He sure knows how to build a strong transmission. Transgo kit makes a world of difference.

Nope; I shift 1/2. I throw it into 1st at any speed below 30mph.

While in 1st you can bounce off the revlimitter for ever. In 2nd you won't kick down to 1st or upshift to 3rd.

BIRDMAN 12-02-2012 02:19 AM

Yeah because autoxes really test one's transmission..

Says the guy with a modified C5z who has never gotten within more then 2 and a half seconds me at an autox. If you actually drove fast you might start breaking stuff.

2-1 downshifts at 30mph are not easy on a transmissions; it hits so hard it will lock up the rear tires sometimes.

As in manual valve body

Nope; stock valve body. What I described is stock function for a GTO.

1 is 1st only, 2 is 2nd only, 3 is drive but if you hit rev limiter you will go into 4th, D is overdrive.

Once I get rid of the stock POS shifter I'll do a the manual version of the transgo kit.

Gerald is good! You told birdman

GreebeanZ28 12-02-2012 11:04 AM

I'd think first is nothing but wheelspin on an autocross course. Spinnin' aint winning'.

Actually I have. Myrtle Beach. Not to mention you have way more experience than me and dedicated tires. And let's keep it civil Miker, I really don't want to embarass you in front of your friends.

Why in the world would you be down shifting to 1st on autox anyways?? I stay in second after I get into it in the beginning.

"Birdman is a douchenozzle" Oh damn, that FB post must have really got you hot and bothered. I figured you had thicker skin than that and could tell I was just messing with you after what could have been taken as a condescending remark from you. Let me know if you want to go down this road, I don't care. But the fact is prior to now I had nothin against you and nor meant you any trouble.

Yeah for our cars that's the case. Even second spins at times if not careful. Not sure why he's downshifting to 1st but oh well, it works for him.

BigdaddyDupree 12-02-2012 11:20 AM

Grudge autoxcrossing = you have to give him something. You are running an auto vs his 6 speed...:poke:

Oh yeah, you forgot that you are on stickier tires and how mine are worn street tires. And when I said "Actually I have" I was including my fun runs, where I consistently knock off 2-3 seconds off of my best time during the normal runs. But since I can't "prove" that, they don't count, right? Actually, I may still have some slips lying around..

Shits about to get real up in here. Auto-x racecar vs Auto-x streetcar grudge battle

We are both on street tires and daily drive our cars.

ForceFed4g63 12-02-2012 08:45 PM

Why would your fun runs be faster than the actual competition?
