Looking for some advice
Some guys at work have been talking about taking their boats out and doing some inshore fishing. I would love to join them but don't have any fishing gear. I haven't fished seriously since I was probably 16 and am looking to get back into it. I would like to by a rig for the occasional inshore saltwater fishing trip, but have no clue what's good anymore. I know Shamano reels were good back in the day but can't remember what rods I used. I would like to try and get a mid level rod-n-reel combo for under $150 if that's possible? Any inputs would be appreciated and thanks a lot!

Pump action shotgun .

Shimano sahara reel and a tfo rod that should keep you in the 150$ dollar range and be a top notch set up

I would go with a Penn reel, as for a rod i have no idea. Maybe the resident inshore fishing guide Soccerspike or Jeff will chime in.

Reela are really all in what you like but as far as rods go ive been stuck on the tfo rods ever since i bought mine last summer

Can you buy this stuff at Dick's Sporting Goods or do you have to go to a place like Charleston Angler? Thanks for the help thus far.

Go to Haddrell's tackle shop and they can set you up with a good rig.

If they are serious, you wont need any gear. Most guys I know are very happy when you put fuel in the boat....

Shimano still makes good stuff ( besides there rods). Check out the curado spinning reels, as far as rod depends on the rig, but something from a 6'6" to a 7' medium or medium heavy would be good for most light inshore stuff. The guys at the Charleston angler have been great to us so id check them out. We've broken about 5 of our 100$ Shimano rods, we bring them in and they replace them nl questions asked.

Haddrell's Point has been around a long time and are good people. 2 locations in Charleston. Locally owned and even have a blog on fishing.
