washing machine issue.
 
the drum won't turn and it makes a sound like a basketball buzzer when it tries. My wife tried to wash a bunch of blankets at once. I am going to start to work on tommrow. any ideas of what is broke?

I think there's a belt that may have snapped from the stress or come loose. I could be wrong though. Just hit it with a hammer.

Belt from motor to drum most likely.

If its a whirlpool it has dog ears that are plastic that break...Call Barfields Appliance in goose creek in the morning and give them the model # and they can tell you if yours has em...They break from overloading...There is othe models also but i cant remember them all...

it is a whirlpool top loader. I will call them.

Whirlpool too loaded is easy to fix as long as the motor is good. There is a rubber coupler and plastic cogs that connect motor to transmission. The rubber or teeth on plastic cog are shot more than likely.

If it will not agitate nor spin, this will be the issue.

that was the problem. got the new metal center one for added strength.
