Man Sucked into Jet Engine..Graphic

As a jet engine mechanic myself, we have rules in place for how close we get during power runs. Also have inlet covers for the fighters.

Pretty unforgiving. Also can't imagine being one of the people on board.

"The 737-500 was carrying 114 passengers and five crew members at the time of the accident, he said."

No video, just a few pics of the aftermath. They could have said it was a flying monkey hopped up on Mtn Dew and the results would have looked the same.

This

ElecTech 10-15-2013 12:54 PM

Saw the A6 video from the carrier in class. That was enough for me.

ElecTech 10-15-2013 12:56 PM

737's are some of the more dangerous in my opinion. The inlets are right on the ground and I would think very unforgiving.

RoadconeTuning 10-15-2013 01:07 PM

holy shit, there is no way you'd know that a human was involved with that unless you were told... one thing that surprises me is how far behind the plane stuff was... where did the bones go??? thats what i really cant figure out at all.

as was said before, at least it was quick...

Was that the one where the guy came out the other side?

RoadconeTuning 10-15-2013 01:18 PM

I've seen one where the guys helmet stopped the fan after it sucked him up in it. idk if he died or not but the helmet did stop the blades.

usmcgunner 10-15-2013 01:28 PM

I saw the same vid as electech, back in 1997 when I was in A school, in Pensacola. a few years later, there was a vid of someone getting sucked up on a carrier, but he survived. the IGV's kept him out of the engine. he escaped with only hearing loss and some bruises. When I did final checks on turning jets, I stayed WELL away from the intakes.

Probably even farther than the rest of the lighter weight gore.
