I recommend that system all the time for work at the wood / cabinet shops I visit. In the work comp insurance world, a finger costs the insurance company about 10k per digit that is cut off. 2 digits = 20k. Multiple digits on multiple fingers and the cost goes up exponentially. Those new sawstop saws are not cheap, 4-5k retail. BUT overtime the amount of money it saves the insurance company and the employer whose employees have all their fingers makes it very affordable.

those have been around for a few years, they used to have a late night infomercial and they used hotdogs to show it working. the amount of energy that it absorbs is insane.

I was wondering about that as well.

Or what if your hand slips and hits the blade rather quickly/forcefully? They test it very slowly in the video..

We have one of those in our building trades shop at KapStone paper mill.And yes it does save fingers:bigthumb:
