South vs North (SC version)

I think that with all the new guys from the FastGM site, or wherever any of them have come from, it would be interesting to set up a little meet sometime in the future to do a north vs south, or "upstate" vs "lowcountry". Just a thought and maybe possible to start thinking of a date if enough people agree to do it.

We have tired to get something going before but it never works out. I am down for it if we can actually get something up!

LS1 Powertuning was looking into a track day/event last year. However, I believe he became busy setting up shop and working vehicles. The Upstaters have had their own STS (street tire shootout) and crowned a king. It would be interesting to see for sure.

yeah that was pretty cool. a couple of cars going in the 7's on sk33t tires, and no drag radials or awd allowed. The STS kang even has a road race suspension.

sounds fun! im down for a street tire shootout too! But it would be kinda nice and helpful if we can get a little list of whos truly interested. Mike, maybe you or someone could plan this a little better, I just thought it would be hella fun!

Is there a track in the Columbia area? That would be about half way for everybody.

I-26/I-20 are the only ones I can think of. Best part is that they are open 24/7/365 so it can be anytime.

a drag radial is a street tire- i don't get it.
so what you really want to have is a turtle shootout? who gives a shit who wins that- the winner is still slow.

and BTW, no, I want an decently paired matchup however the case may be. One from "upstate" and one from "lowcountry".....I dont think you even have a match though..?!?! :hysterical:

Must have LOL Im a little slow sometimes.:bigthumb:

silver455 06-12-2008 03:43 PM

we did no drag radials so it would be competitive for some of the guys who have less mods or didn't own drag radials like me at the time....they guys winning this event would have been SECONDS faster than some of the competitors if they were on DRs....it was something we did to be diff and have fun

10-4

DTSVT03 06-12-2008 03:50 PM

the car that won had been in the 6's a few years before with the exact same engine, a more drag race friendly suspension setup, and slicks. Picking tires back up on the 1-2 shift. It was hilarity to watch the look on some peoples faces.

Mike 06-12-2008 03:57 PM

I try to do the same kind of races. Only ours I allowed drag radials/street tires.
