How to Negotiate a Race
You know guys, I don't know where you guys learned to negotiate a race. If someone is offering to race you for lengths, leave or whatever, You can always negotiate for something you feel more comfortable with. Intimidation and crap talking doesn't seem to be getting anybody any where!!!

Harry, you are going to need to get the approval of the entire board before you talk about racing anymore. Go sit in time out. |

The problem is that most are caught up in "playing the role" and forget that at the end of the day you are suppose to race.....
|
Sorry guys. Don't know what I was thinking.
|
so for those of us who have been busy to get to a track lately and haven't been in almost 2 months can't talk about racing?
|
from experience.. most of the time people are to worried about their ego than tey are about enjoying their car.
it seems even if it was fair/close race from a dig or roll if its a car or more that person got drug or got pulled like he was standing still.which in most cases is not the case.. i dont see people on this board really getting to hurt over it you all seem like you know each other and seem to know where each other stands as far as times/potential.. and most of thet ime aquantiances/friends like to talk crap to just have fun and poke fun. from my experiancei f any real money is involved people talk it up so much and the race usually does not go as planned.. if its a roll from 20-120 it ends up being a 40-120 race.. they play cat and mouse till the one who called the other out gets the race he wanted.( sen this all to much) or the guy knows he is over powered or outmatch and askes for 2/3 lenghths.. the other car is usually within 1-1.5 cars bye the time the race is on.. unless its from a dig.. than the guy in the rear is usually so anxios he is either on the stall or something freakish happned with line lock and ends up rolling out first closing the gap before the race. on most import/domestic races the v8 or domestic usually jumps out and shuts it down when they have 1 car or 2 out on the import.. when in reality a turbo import its 99 percent of the time a top end/mid rage car.. so when the v8 shuts it down 1 gear into it the import is just getting its steam(and usually comming on strong).. even on break boosted races the car is still making power on the top of the rpm range.. thats why most imports what a race that is from 20/40- 120/140 or a markeked spot.. most import cars that are fast really do enjoy the domestic market and the guys who race.. i will admit sitting next to a bbc/ford camming or looking at a tunnel ram or a big body muscle car rolling s just a menacing and heart throbbing moment..its adrenaline filled to say the least. sorry 4 the rant. |

Not sure, i'm still learning the rules around here. |

Some how a few people have picked up on rule #1 though. 1. Rules are subject to change. :joke: |
things are so different now. when i was in my teens and early 20s, i use to street race almost every night. i had 2 cars, my 70 road runner and my 76 newport. we raced in an industrial park and everyone just showed up there every night of the week in the summers. if you wanted to race, you just showed up and you may be racing all night long.
cars are much faster now though. there were no stroker kits or aluminum heads back then also, i had more fun in my 4 door newport racing than i ever did in my road runner. the newport could take down late 80s 5.0 mustangs and monte carlo ss cars. it really pissed people off |
Things definitely are different now a days. We used to cruise every fri. sat. and race up and down rivers til 2 to 3 in the morning. That was also when the Navy was still around and things were more interesting.

Couldn't get away with that anymore. I remember doing that on Wade Hampton Blvd. in Greenville when i was in high school. |
It can still be done around here, just have to keep the ricer's away so they dont screw it up trying to race to 130 mph in a honda that takes 10 miles to get there.
There's spots around here.......... |
Ya. I know. But, things are different for me and alot of us now a days. I have alot more to loose doing things like that now. Never the less it was alot of fun.
