Opinions wanted on my Cobra

Here is the current plan....about saved up for the Aluminator long block. I am either gonna keep the 2.2 KB or go with a 3.4 Whipple if I can save enough before this deployment is over. Is this a route you would take? The long block is on the average around 7 grand. I tried the built block rebuild and got screwed so now I am looking for a warranty build. The 2.2 will net me around 600rwhp with pump gas. Guess that is around the 80-90% of that blower due to hearing high numbers with the blower. I do plan on racing this car yet still need street driveability. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

PS..before it's said..trade it in for a Z06 C6...I agree..too expensive at the moment

trade it in on a regular c6 and procharge it ;) of course after you demod it a little. other than that i am no help to you except get rid of irs if you build it up

X2, unless your Magoo the IRS is going to kill you at the track.

Why not let somebody reputable rebuild the motor, seems like you always go to the unknown shops and get screwed man. IIRC the Aluminator only carries a one year warranty, has unknown piston's, and is only rated to handle about 700rwhp max. But if you're set on buying it Steve @ Tousley can get it for $6100 shipped.

I say keep the 2.2 and throw some good boost at it, get a stout fuel system, and convert to E85. Hello 700+rwhp on cheap pump gas! The IRS is fine, plenty of guys are running sick sick times on the totally stock rear. Just don't go out there on street tires and try to launch like a bat outta hell. Keep some nice slicks out back with a thick sidewall (ie: 15" or 16" wheel") and you'll be fine.

But I will toss in a vote to sell the Mach and get a C6Z, they're dipping down the mid-hi $30's if you look hard enough!

Get a good motor built then throw that blower in the trash. Turbo's are where its at.

Or... Just turbo the Aluminator, and give me the blower.

Thanks guys...the Mach1 and the Cobra are getting their rear ends swapped out as soon as I get home. Should be a fun day at the hobby shop! Hell I even put my own gears in the Mach:cheers Learning a little more everyday. Thanks again.-Shane

Built motor then Turbo

Shane361 04-18-2010 04:23 AM

I will need to look into the turbo for a future endevor. I might run the Aluminator with two turbos in the future. That would make for a fun car for sure. Not sure how much or what the best kit would be for the turbos..ideas?-Shane
