Major rumor I heard about Lowcountry dragstrip

I dont remember who it was but at dorchester this weekend someone swore up and down that someone bought the land that the old track was on and they were going to put a new one there. Brandon was standing right there and heard it to. I know this is wishful thinking but is there any truth to this?

The land owners were giving low country hell before the track was closed down, I had heard things like "muffler rule" and "early shut down" long before they closed, I think it ultimately led to its demise. Now there's more houses around there, so I highly doubt it...... Maybe he was talking about midway?

Thats what we thought but who ever was talking about it said specifically that he wasnt talking about midway. I dunno. Maybe he just got confused and got the facts mixed up.

They have already started building a development where the track used to be, so I really doubt what you heard is true.

clubracergt1 04-13-2011 06:18 AM

True about the development, but I think it's nothing but streets.

The latest rumor I heard was the old owners of Lowcountry bought Midway and are opening it back up under another name. It would be nice if its true..

White00gt 04-13-2011 08:07 AM

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see midway/greasyville open back up. But domit man...not this again.....been hearing this for ever...somebody actually say something when they make a hit...

That reminds me. They are building a track 3 miles off shore in the ocean, they are starting work on the long ass wooden pier that you get to it on........

God I hope not, I can only hope that someone that actually knows how to run/prep a drag strip takes over ownership.

My wife can prep a slip and slide and let a bunch of snot nose brats run around like a chicken with their head chopped off.

One of the things I heard from an old Berkeley County farmer was the funniest thing I heard. I don't know if its true or not. I heard that the race track area has been a race track since the early 1900's, and a horse track prior to that, and that the soil was so saturated with oil, and other chemicals, that the area couldn't be cleaned up enough to build residential homes. So the funny thing is the homes around the track managed to run off the track, but can't do anything with the land now. I don't know.

White00gt 04-13-2011 09:25 AM

I know your right about the track, and horse track, probably about all the crud also.

But the great news is.......they are clearing the land for the track 3 miles of shore, and bringing in a bunch of jap scientist to figure out the best way to start building the wooden pier

Darryl Buckner 04-13-2011 09:32 AM

Its not supposed to be a wooden pier, they are building a road like the one going to the Florida Keys. Oh and they were going to power the little race track island with a nuclear reactor cooled with salt water also..:bigthumb:

White00gt 04-13-2011 09:35 AM

Lmao now that's what's up

White00gt 04-13-2011 09:38 AM

Can you say nuclear tail winds baby. Maybe we can even get some new mutated fish that looks like rich fin flapping christienson to do a gill drop live

Darryl Buckner 04-13-2011 09:40 AM

Call it the home of the hurricane national, if you survive you win..:bigthumb:

White00gt 04-13-2011 09:43 AM

Silly flying fish tripping the beams

Darryl Buckner 04-13-2011 09:46 AM

DolSVT00 04-13-2011 10:06 AM

I heard radioactive iodine and radioactive tridium with hints of plutonium in your intake charge is worth 2 10ths........ Just what I heard.

Darryl Buckner 04-13-2011 10:14 AM

I was going to contain it in a bottle and shoot it like nitrous. Worse case you car will blown up with the force of a 10 kiloton bomb..
