Should I swich to a Glide?
SBF
|
The C4 will cause you issues.
|
sure
|
I can tell you that another car with a similar setup to yours went from a C4 to a glide and slowed down 2 tenths on motor and picked up 3 tenths on the gas.
|
My car was faster with a glide
|
if you buy one go ahead and get me one too
|
I would do it.

It only takes 16hp to operate a PG the least of all autos.Might not be as great of a street trans in my opinion, but awesome in a drag car:bigthumb:

If my car ever makes it to track only duty, the first mod after weight loss of the street stuff will be a glide.

The glide is nice and light, but converter selection can be a pain. You either have to stall it for nitrous only, or for motor only to be optimum for either one.
With the 1.76 1st ratio of the glide, the converter stall becomes much more of the equation vs. the 2.48 1st ratio of a lot of the popular 3 speeds out there. The 1.76 1st ratio of the glide will calm down your wheelies if you are lifting the front end excessively with your current 3 speed. If you run mostly motor only with no wheelie problems, then stick with your 3 speed. If you are mostly a heavy nitrous junkie, it is easier to make a glide work for you. P.S. - If you put a glide behind a ford or mopar product, you may have to find some anti-rejection trans fluid to put in it so the rest of the car won't reject the foreign organ!:hysterical: |

Darryl's body man came over tonight, car is going to him in a couple of weeks for repair and a new paint job. |
Well they might have drove around for thirty years with them, but as soon as the T350's and T 400's came out a whole bunch of people were swapping these 3spd auto's in.This is fact not presumption.I like PG also. But a better choice for a street driven drag car is a 3 spd auto in my opinion. This topic is about ya or na on using a PG,so I'll stop now with the who's right or wrong crap:bigthumb:

^^ hey hey lets compromise run a turbo glide.. oh wait.. thats a 400 with 2 gears.. ahh, nvm lol AOD with elec O/D FTW :poke:
drove a pg on the street for 6yrs.. loved it/ and hated it.. and you probably think I hated it because of the 1.80 first... Wrong I hated it cuz no O/D... Same reason I hate to drive my 400 on the street not because of the 1.48 second or 2.10 first... because of no O/D/.. lol ok I'll quit now hahaha but wait theres gearvenders FTMFW |
what kind of struts do you have on the front?
|
heres what you do... put in the glide, 430 gear, 5500 stall convert, turn it all on from home and leave at 4800 lock down the struts =5.50
|
No but if people are going in the 5.0s and faster on 275s, im sure you can go some 50s
radials are more scientific than slicks once you figure the science behind them and figure out the when and wheres behind them they will work better than a slick |
