Tips on Fbody HVAC removal please..?

Been doing some weight removal out of the catfish. I've already got the ac compressor, dryer, condenser, and lines under the hood removed.

I want to get the whole box out of the firewall on the passenger side. I'm not concerned about retaining the heat.

From what I can see, there's no way to get it out without removing the dash.
I already removed the glove box and the kick panel below it
I'd prefer not to remove the dash, but I will if I have to.

I'm not opposed to just getting in there and cutting it out because I don't care about trying to sell the parts.
Just looking for pointers on the process. Maybe even pics of the process if you have it available.

Yeah, i've found a few bits and pieces myself. I was hoping, wishing, praying for a detailed writeup. lol.

I am trying to replace the box that is on the outside of the car. It's flanged and mounts against the passenger compartment into the engine bay.

From what I can see the only way to get it out is going to be removing my dash... what a pain that will be

I've pulled the HVAC box and removed it several times. It's better IMO to pull the dash and remove it as a whole. I could give you a hand if you wanted to try it on a weekend. Make sure to buy the block off panel.

That sounds like a good to me. It would be worth the drive to Chas. to have someone help that's done it before.

I'm going to atlanta next saturday, but i'll be able to do it Sunday. I don't know how you feel about missing out on rest/football on sunday though, so no pressure.

I kept the heat and just made the block off plate out of aluminum.

I will admit that it sucks driving the car on a rainy day w/ no defrost. I personally would never do it to a car again, unless it was a track only car. I can help for sure, but I'd seriously think about not doing it all, especially if its a DD, Just my .02 though.

Definitely wouldn't be doing this if it were a DD.
It will get driven on the street, but only in good weather while headed towards the track. It will see the occasional weekend around town too.
