sounds like the little plug fell out the clutch pedal assembly....
the clutch safety switch sends the ground signal to the starter solenoid, not power...
you should have 12v at the starters large wire, at the alternator large wire and at the underhood fuse box. the ignition switch feeds the fuse panel, the fuse panel feeds the alternator and starter....
your transmission ground strap is very important. you are grounding through fresh clear coat and paint on the chassis and engine enamel on the transmission.
