I asked this girl to help, she was out cold, so I covered her up with my t-shirt:
this is the old 1982 chevy scrub truck, it's mostly JUNK...except someone built a hot rod motor to put in it:
wondering if anyone knew who did this, it has a edelbrock performer RPM Intake, and a holley 650, Zach & Kevin said it sounded like a Marine cam.
the problem is, they used double hump heads, which do NOT have a bolt hole for a power steering pump:
i got a bolt to mount onto the water pump, so that end of the PS pump is no longer swinging free,
but the adjustment on the outside, don't take up slack in the belt, it just moves up & down
KevinH came by, said I had a "long water pump" setup, with a "short water pump" steering pump mount
he said short setups are hard to come by.
anyone got any ideas?
the motor has a cam in it, and runs like a hot mess. I was toting a trailer up Ladson road last weekend, and gave a little black Lexus sedan a good surprise, he had a tough time getting around me.
if i could get the vacuum secondaries to open on the Holley, this thing would be ignorant fast. (it's plugged off, aint' got that far yet....)
anyways, the steering makes it not really driveable as is.
so I need to buy a new pump, but I think i need to scrounge some sort of mount off a ______ car or truck to work with the double hump heads.
but I hate to change out the water pump & alternator & everything.
it's just not that nice of a truck. it's a runner, and good for LOWES runs, but IDK if it would reach DD status without a ton of small tweaks.
it will pull a load, here is 2.5 cubic yards of top soil behind it, and it left the dirt place boiling a tire (one wheel peal - ouch)
