ÔÇ£Characteristics of a Godly ManÔÇØ

Recently, the Lord had me to teach a message about the characteristics of being a Godly Man. In my years of being in the church, women have always played the most significant parts in the church. Men have always set by the side, letting the women set the attendance, hold the prayer meetings, and do the majority of the work in the ministry.

Although this has been great for the women, it has set the church out of balance as the men should be leading their homes and their communities. It is not to say that women canÔÇÖt be in charge, but rather the men should be leading by example. We will look at the life of David to see five characteristics to being a Godly man.

First, he must be passionate about the things of God and His Presence. David was so passionate about GodÔÇÖs Presence. In order to lead our homes and other people, we must be full of the Presence of God.

Secondly, we must walk in humility. To be humble, means that we are teachable, correctable, and submitted to authority. David was quick to take the blame for his mistakes.

Third, we must be able to stand alone. No matter if our wives, our children, or our friends come against us, we must be able to stand alone for what we know is right in the eyes of God.

Fourth, we must be men of mercy. It is GodÔÇÖs place to gain vengeance, not ours. David did not seek vengeance on his son or Saul, but he was a man of mercy.

Lastly, we must be men of diligence. This means we are men of our word, men of character, and mean of honor. To be a hard a hard working man is a great quality, but if we add diligence to it, we get mighty results.

I challenge the men out there, not just to be great men in the sight of other men; but to be great men in the sight of God. Lead your family in the fear of the Lord. Train your children in the way that God wants them to go, and stand firm for what God has said about you and your family. Now is not the time to be a coward and conform in the eyes of society. Now is the time stand up and be the Godly man you were created to be!
