Offense - A Major Hindrance

An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city, and disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel. Proverbs 18:19

Offenses (unsolved bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness in broken relationships) grieve the Holy Spirit and undermine the unity and prayer vital to revival. When the Holy Spirit is grieved, the flow of His power, counsel, and comfort is stymied, and the enemy is given opportunity to accuse, torment, imprison, and ultimately defeat us.

This blocks our ability to give or receive GodÔÇÖs mercy because our relationship with Him is compromised, and the church is prevented from presenting the glory of God to a community.

If we repent of our offenses to God and make things right before others, (Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24), we can live in the power of an ungrieved Holy Spirit.

Thus release from anger and bitterness, we can expect continual revival, abounding in the grace of His forgiveness, mercy, and kindness. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins." But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your sins. Mark 11:22-24.

16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.
