I guess that's why I never got into the grudge thing. If both guys think they are faster and line up that's cool. If one guy is asking for a headstart....what does it prove? Just that they are better at BSing? Doesn't really show better driver or car.

i agree, but if you say it is going to be heads up and that is it, then you are only going to have 2-3 cars racing. the same reason there are different classes when you go to a big race. there will not be enough cars to split it up, so you have to somehow make it competetive for everyone.
i would think this would be more for fun anyway, not neccasarily to prove anything. and a little money involved keeps things competetive.
