Default Cobalt SS/TC 2nd gear Synchro replacement

Need to find a shop that's done a manual front wheel drive car before... would be nice if they specifically have done SS/TCs before.

Need clutch/flywheel done (which i will supply) and atleast the 2nd gear synchro.

Upstate franchises and stand alone shops just look at my funny and say they never done any manual fwd cars
Wtf? Really? 1200 to 1800 quote in labor alone? Really? Fuck fwd cars.

Any recommendations in the Upstate area?

You might want to try Ronnie Daniels. He has a shop in Moncks Corner and is super with trannys. He redid a automatic in my 70 Mustang. I drove it in he pulled it rebuilt it and put it back in the car and it was $750. complete. Now I know yours is stick but he builds is own for his round track car so he may be able to do what you need. His # is 843-412-1275 the worse he can say is no.

Call Rob Griffin, he completely rebuilt my SRT-4 transmission for an extremely reasonable price and did an excellent job. Much, much lower than what you've been quoted.

Thanks guys.

I remember Rob, was just seeing if anyone knew anyone in the upstate. I'd rather let Rob have my dough though. I only hear good things about his work.

you're likely better off buying a "stage 2" trans from zzp w/ a different final drive. just wait until you hammer that thing with e85 and it pushes the input shaft out of the case.

Fuck it. I don't have the time and no one is returning my calls or emails.

For around 1700 (after core is returned) I could get a nicely fully rebuilt transmission from Werks. That's a good deal. They just wont get back with me. They say they are slammed and will get me a quote ASAP, but ever few days I check with them they say they will provide one that night, but they never do.

ZZP is out of the tranny game.

No one wants my money.

4 kids and all does't leave much times for hobbies. Especially since we need another minivan. No time to play this horse shit game of calling people to try and get parts to even attempt to wrench on my car.

For sale ad coming.

Guilty. Sorry man. We have just been absolutely slammed with work.

If you still want to get it fixed, looks like about $1000 to r/r the trans and just fix second gear synchro. Add 500 if you want to replace all of the synchro rings. If it needs the actual gear for second or the hub assembly those would be extra but they are more than likely still good.
